Many of the Shimano branded freehubs are similar enough to allow them to be swapped.
I'm guessing the UG cassettes will fit HG bodies without modification, since what seems to be the only difference is the one tab, (narrow UG tab in wider HG slot).

Yes, I think that is it. Slots on the hyperglide will still fit Uniglide cassetes. The freehub sould have threads on the inside and outside to allow either a sprocket locknut, or a end type locknut.

Absolutely true. Any Uniglide cassette cogs still out there are close to 30 years old but they will fit Hyperglide-type hubs.
