Any experience with nukeproof hubs?

The coop has a freewheel hub that i may pick up. Just wondered if any of you had any experience with them.

The old ones with the carbon sleeve? Yes, I do. Nothing particularly special about them other than looks. The carbon sleeve had no affect on the hub other than looks. The bearings are mid-grade cartridge bearings. Good hub. Early ones had bonding issues, later ones did not. Made in Grand Rapids, MI.

That's about all I know about mine too on a never used or wonderfully restored 1991 Slingshot with custom paint job. The Seller got it in a trade and the guy he bought it from didn't provide the backstory (assuming there was one).
Front and rear hubs are Nukeproof. The handlebar is also Nukeproof and looks like a rigid snake. This bike is more a work of art than it is a rider.

Are those titanium or aluminum?

I think some of them may have had cracking issues with the flanges. I'd probably build one up, but before you do anything, inspect the flanges well.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I'm hoping I run into someone who knows something about this bike someday. The artist (presumably) even signed his name "Mitcher T." above the head badge. That's what it looks like anyway.

Yes, but many moons ago. Big regrets selling them to a buyer in Japan.

First gen titanium hubs, cassette 8sp, sealed cartridge bearings. No issue's. Though bearings were no match to Campy or Suntour it really was about having a change of brand - the wanting of something different.

The wheelset was borderline insane. 700c TT. Nuke Proof hubs as mentioned above, Sun M-?? aero rims, front radial laced 28 Fiber Flite bladed spokes, rear 32h / Marwi Ti dye radial NDS, 3X DS. Tricked out lightweight. Note: I did not build but did spec them. Hehe

Bikes: IRO Mark V, Karate Monkey half fat, Trek 620 IGH, Cannondale 26/24 MTB, Amp Research B3, and more.

That is the coolest bike I have seen on BF in a long, long time. What else you have lurking out there in your garage? Start a whole new thread of awesomeness please.

Ha! Thanks, but the only thing I can take credit for is being in the right place at the right time.
I was on a scouting trip to well-known bike shops in Slingshot Country hunting for the elusive straight-blade rigid steel fork for another 1991 Slingshot.
Slingshots didn't come with suspension forks, at least not until after 1991.
Guy in one of the bike shops said "I don't have a fork, but I do have a Slingshot I'll sell ya." He had me at "Sling..."

Been thinking about starting a Slingshot or Unconventional Bikes thread, but not certain which forum is best.
