Bike Recyclery - My Experience

Quite a few good examples in this thread of how social media is screwing up societies. Quite a few jumped on the back of the seller assuming the worse, when it was simply an oversight to have not posted on the website the owners out of town status. It was posted on FB, though. 1/2 a point for that. 0 points for those quick to condemn.

Doesn't matter what eBay seller puts in their ad, eBay WILL allow returns for any "item not as described". Seller who put no returns in their listings are kidding themselves. Ebay WILL push the return back to the seller.
Now in my case, I now offer hassle free returns, so it means no reason is needed. Change your mind, and its coming back.

I do agree she should make it blazingly clear on the site that she’s out of town- I can’t see the site right thru my phone-
But bargainguy mentioned he saw it in post #3:
“Edit: I just checked their website and found a 10% off sale while the owner is supposedly away Jan. 22- Feb. 6 and "semi-available."”
When I saw bargainguy's post I did check but obviously not hard enough. I should have questioned him about how he saw that info... However, it makes sense for the seller to make the info findable on the top page.
Incidentally, I've had another message from the owner which confirms my positive impression of her. I now have no hesitation in recommending her business.

I looked and saw a sign for a 10% off sale which said "SHIPPING WILL BE DELAYED JAN 11 - 22". However, while checking just now I happened to see the sign was clickable and found clicking on it opens another window with that semi-available info.

I also like that they keep pix of the sold parts up online- That's been really, really cool.

Just to bring everyone up to date, at Bike Recyclery's invitation I returned the pulleys and Justyne, the owner, has contacted me to inform me she has received them and that she has refunded the money I paid through my credit card.
I have no hesitation in recommending her business and wish her every success.

A quick search of thread titles without reading the whole thread would lead one to believe it was all shady.
However, I think you should leave the thread.

Please note: After beginning this thread I found Justyne, the owner of Bike Recyclery, to be conscientious and responsible. I am now completely happy with the service she provides and am happy to recommend her business. If you read on you will see what happened and how the problem occurred.

And maybe save the publicized hate mail till you know the end result next time.
But that's just me.

Yes, absolutely. In fact, when I posted my last post (I also added a note at the beginning, to my initial post, explaining I was now perfectly happy) I also sent a message to the administrators requesting a change to the thread title. I'm waiting to hear back from them.

Okay, I removed "buyers beware" -- anything else?

No PM or report first post - I don't know how to PM an administrator - I did see a report first post button but didn't understand what to use it for.
I sent a message using the 'Contact us' button at the foot of each page in which I asked for 'Buyers Beware' to be removed and explained how it had turned out to be inappropriate. I also suggested it be replaced with 'My Experience' but that's less important. I've looked but can't find the message I sent in my sent file...
Thanks again!

That's the slowest way possible to report something. Just hit the button with an exclamation mark on any post, say you want the thread title changed. Ignore anything it might say about only used for blah blah blah. Reporting a post is the best way to get a mod/admin to take care of something. I'll fix the title again.
