Looking for Simplex shifter springs

Hi All..

I have a set of Simplex SLJ downtube shifters..the Mavic version, with a broken tension spring in the right lever. Does anyone know of any sources for the springs?

I read somewhere that the springs are wound specifically for each side..right side are counter-clockwise and left side clockwise. I tried the usual source (EBAY) but only found complete levers. My shifters are in nice shape so I'm hoping that I can buy the springs instead of having to gut a perfectly good shifter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...Thanks

John

If it is broken at the bend, there’s a thread that addresses resending the spring.

I saw that. I'm hoping to find a replacement, but I will try the bending trick if all else fails. Thanks for the tip

I'm always astounded at what is in stock there.
"Got any 'con-sfere' BB cups?"
"Sure - what threading?"
