Professional model
2 = 52 cm seat tube (c-c)
E4367 = serial number, frame built in 1982
The frame has been repainted, some stickers are inappropriate

Thank you again CM ( Jacek ) !!!!

It really is greatly appreciated

Hi everyone,
new in this forum, I found a mxl in my size
The engraving in the BB
P F6459
I was told the frame was brought from Belgium. not an expert but I have never seen this paint scheme.
on the top tube says "Geant Bruno"
any idea?

CyclesMakaron 01-20-21 12:38 AM

P F6459 = 1995
for the paintwork pattern please refer to the EMC 1995 and 1996 catalogues
Bruno Geant - first proud owner of this bike (not widely known)

styggno1 01-20-21 03:29 AM

I presume the frame to be really large considering the first owners name. Otherwise it would/could be ironic...

géant
nom
  1. 1.

  • 2.
    Étoile géante
de grand rayon, peu dense, très lumineuse.

greetings all

I'm in the hunt of EM corsa extra, and I found this corsa extra with 90s production colorway (most likely). wanna make sure the frame is Corsa Extra and the tubing is Columbus SLX. The frame also has headtube cable guide. Greatly appreciate if anyone can help decipher the bb shell code, its L C9175 (pictures attached - error cant upload pic yet :( ).

thanks in advance!

CyclesMakaron 01-22-21 11:56 AM

Bruno Geant - VLP or VLB scheme painting (94-97)
L C9175 - end of 1991
There should be additional markings around L, check steering tube (card?)

Paul J 01-23-21 06:25 PM

I've been meaning to put this up here to see what the date and info is. I've had this since 2001 when I purchased it from a fellow in South Carolina. Unfortunately it had been used on a trainer and sweat accumulated around the top tube pump and created a significant amount of rust and bubbling in the pain. Off to hot tubes for paint. I've not been a fan of chrome so had the frame fully painted covering the chrome. This is a daily rider so is showing chips and scratches but rides like a million dollars.

thank you for your response. Apologies, I think I made a typo previously, it should be C9715.

few images in spoiler:

CyclesMakaron 01-25-21 01:26 AM

C9715 - that changes things a bit :)
This is a team frame built in late 1991 for Telekom (for 1992 season), rebuilt and repainted ~94/95 (PS paint scheme - 1996 catalog)
2p.chroom - chrome paint scheme
later - frame repainted in EMC

haha yes, I guess I was too excited when typing the serial number.

so is it corsa extra? SLX / TSX tubing?

CyclesMakaron 01-25-21 11:41 AM

Corsa Extra or Century
SLX, TSX or Reynolds 753
The team frame does not have full technical markings
Are there "riflings" inside the tubes? (steering tube and all tubes visible through the BB cover) - if so: SLX or TSX; if not: R753
The distinction between SLX and TSX is completely crazy - but it can be done...

Alpenstock 02-01-21 02:58 PM

Gentlemen
In response to apropo most of us, check this out

Eddy Merckx frame, old fashioned flat top fork crown with the Merckx pantograph, completely chromed
Chromed dropouts, chromed right chain stay
rich red color, original paint judging from the seat stay caps with the Merckx logo
but get this - no decals of any kind, not on headtube or and downtube, no decals anywhere.
original paint ' almost ferrari red
bottom bracket shell the old fashioned kind with lots of cut outs filled in by some inner band,
bottom bracket shell with super (above) brazed cable guides
bottom bracket underside with the hold and C on the drive side and E#### on the left side.
Old campy nuovo record or super record cranks 175 mm
frame size 61 seat tube
obviously a little mistreated andn odd parts put on, but original campy headset and quill stem and bars cinelli of course
what else - oh yeah - must be 84 judging by all the other research
photos after I reach ten threads
ciaou

CyclesMakaron 02-02-21 12:56 AM

Professional :)

Early Eddy Merckx frames

Cool, so I restore with campy super record? or regular

Alpenstock 02-03-21 09:06 AM

Have fab photos but can't post
Paint is awesome, but sadly, maltreated for decades
thus she is called Tess, "how the mighty have fallen"

I believe its produced in 90, based on the brochure below (which you post in other Merckx thread IIRC)

https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...f7ca128de2.jpg

cant wait for this frameset to arrive and ride it

Eddy Merckx Panasonic

Hello, my turn ;).

Would be nice to know if someone can cypher the story behind my frame.

Eddy Merckx Panasonic
Corsa Extra SLX

Left side shows 8X T
Right side shows A 1122

Ps. I would add photos but the site is being fussy. After a few more posts I should be able to upload something

Thanks

CyclesMakaron 02-05-21 12:22 PM

Alpenstock
if you replace #### with numbers I will determine the year the frame was built
EMC used SR in complete bikes, a regular Record could be fitted to a purchased frame
Corsa Extra Max
congratulations :) this is the earliest version, the frame was built in late 1990 / early 1991
T8X A1122 CE SLX/SPX built late 1986 / early 1987 (series frame)
Panasonic! the strongest team sponsored by EMC... ever

Alpenstock 02-05-21 10:46 PM

Hello Cycles Macaron

Hello Cycles Makaron sorry for 1st misspelling
Thanks for response
Numbers are E 4917
C on drive side
supposedly size 61
Funny thing, no front derailleur braze on
I have super record rear and front but for braze on
Tubing is pretty thick at ends based on sounding it
Thank you!

CyclesMakaron 02-06-21 01:10 AM

E 4917 was built at the end of 1982, at that time FD mounts were not yet fitted (maybe in some frames they were carefully tried)
C was most likely meant to be G (perhaps the G employee had one too many beers), this is the second such "bad luck" I know of

Phillipnamese 02-07-21 11:01 AM

Hey CyclesMakaron

I assume your reply above was for me thanks ;)

Thought to add some images to reference.

If you have anymore juicy information about this frame, please do share

Thanks again

narrow seatstays
option (extra cost) of chrome plating on full rear triangle and fork
incredibly elegant frame :)

Alpenstock 02-08-21 03:40 AM

Early Eddy Merckx frames

Hi CyclesMakaron
Re: E4917
Yeah got the narrow seat stays, chromed right chain stay, chrome fork and crown
Wish it had whole triangle chromed but ... chrome campy dropouts
It is a cool bike, when you push down on the handlebarstem, the whole bike jumps forward
it's gonna be so fast on the downhills
some pitting that went through the paint on downtube so maybe that should be buffed out & rust coated?

Mattdiano 02-08-21 06:03 PM

My Newest Merckx

H C
0X 2222

So I think the 0X tells me it is a 60cm SLX frame (both hold true from measuring and from checking for the helix coils.

Any idea on the rest of it? I would love to know what this frame originally was. It is a re-spray, which I am usually not a fan of, but this thing is beautiful! Thanks in advance!!

Very nice yes!

CyclesMakaron 02-09-21 09:38 AM

H0X C2222: H - EMC employee code; 0X - you already know :) C2222 - serial number, frame built in summer 1990
