Vitus 992 Advice
Hello!
I'm not well-versed on old bikes, but I've recently been smitten with old French bikes (I know, shoot me now!), which up to this point, have been 70s mid-line Motobecanes. Now I picked up a Vitus 992, and I'd like some help in deciphering the production date.
I first thought the bike was a late 80s 979 model, but I now see a very-faded 992 sticker on the seat tube, and it has Shimano 600 8-speed groupset, which appears original. I plan to mostly keep the bike close to original, not because it's special, but it looks cool (it's purple!) and, except for saddle, stem-length and pedals, it's good enough for me. I'll get some photos up when I get it cleaned up a bit.
E203377 is what is stamped below the bottom bracket. Can anyone help me verify the production date? Thanks!
Drew
