Sorting out a Rossin Super Record
I just picked up an apparent Rossin Super Record with full panto, but.... it has been rattle can repainted.
the date codes all put it at about 1983. I am trying to figure out the exact model name to order decals.
At what point did ‘Professional’ get left off the name?
Did the ‘Super Record’ actually have the name on the rear stay this way, or did it just say ‘Record’ and have the upgrades to the components as the difference?
between this and a 1987 Somec I need to re-decal, I am in sticker hell!
Thanks in advance!

Can you get some pictures of the areas where the decals are located? You should be able to see them in 'relief' even if covered by PO paint job unless the paint really heavy. Try to sand some of that paint off where the decals should be. If this doesn't reveal them in relief then decals were removed before this painting was done. If that is the case then I certainly wouldn't know what to do except make a good guess! If this helps I had a nice black one bought new in ~1979 and its decals weren't heavily clear coated. It had the simple logo thus: <Rossin> each side of down tube and drive side chain stay. (The '<' represents the world championship colors in multiple chevrons). It had '<Rossin' lettered vertically on the seat tube facing fwd and only had the upper chevron. It had a black 'R' inside a white pentagon outlined in world champ. colors as a decal on the head tube and a similar but simple design engraved each top side of the chromed fork crown which was then filled with white paint. The bottom bracket down tube socket had a small oval cutout that was painted white. 'Rossin' was engraved on the seat stay caps and filled with white paint. I can't remember if the letters were vertically or horizontally arranged. It's been a while. It had a clamp on front derailleur. I wish I didn't sell it! It rode well!

Maybe this will be helpful. Scroll down for a couple of Rossin catalog scans
