We'll be celebrating my wife being 3 years cancer free next week, so I'm riding pink most of the month.

My wife's MTB that began as a white Chiorda road bike. Built in '83 with pink and turquoise paint by Marinoni.

Pink and turquoise a year before "Miami Vice" (?). I'm just curious; why the drum brakes - besides the cool-factor?

That fork is a CroMo 26" BMX cruiser fork and I really didn't want to mess it up by brazing on the canti bosses. The drums were on the shelf where I was working (Ski Rack in Burlington VT) and in one of those beer-and-messing-around-after-shop-hours sessions the decision was made. Marinoni was just up the road in Quebec and the shop did a lot of repaint biz with him. Regarding the color choice, the lady was my girlfriend at the time and I was also building her a Trek 520 touring bike. A designer, she specified pink/turquoise for this one and purple/red for the Trek. Both turned out pretty well but she no longer rides so the Trek is gone and the pink one is for sale.

Congrats on the Wife’s NED status! My younger Sister just passed it this year, so relieved!
