Mystery Frame

This bike was given to me in exchange for some work. Note my location in southeast Mexico. It's heavy. It came with 27" wheels and still a massive gap between the brake bridge and the rim. I couldn't get the brakes to work at all, until I put Tektro long reach on it with salmon pads.
For your viewing pleasure:

Given your location and the serial number location, it's tempting to say that it's a Acer-Mex product, but I don't believe I've seen a match. Longer reach brakes, especially on the rear, was a common trait on many boom era, entry level bicycles. That's a nasty bend in the drive side seat stay. It also looks like the current seat post is too small.

That bend...Might have been self-inflicted. The spacing was way wide and so I did some cold setting. Back and forth. It was amazing how easily it moved, very easily becoming too narrow, and then too wide again. I'll look into seeing if I can straighten it out without too much damage. As it sits though, the rear triangle alignment is good, and it rides nice. The seat post appears to be correct. Can you say anything about the stem?

Wish to second T-Mar

The fork crown combined the Agrati forged dropouts where the outer face is 3D and the inner flat really scream ACER-MEX. Fork ends are likely to be Agrati N. 000.8010. Bike below even the quality level of a Carrera. Steerer & stem will likely be .833. Note plate style chainstay bridge. May not have been badged as Windsor or Carabela. May have been a contract job for distributor or chainstore. Number on seat tube probably made by licensing agency.

Turns out the bend was an optical illusion. You are correct; the seatpost is too small. I haven't fiddled with it to see what size it should be. I am very much enjoying riding it though, over short distances. It measures out as a 52cm seat tube and my normal size is 60, with the occasional 58. But I can ride it and it's a nice ride. And a great guest bike. Thanks again for the ID help.

I have another .833 stem in the collection. My 84 Schwinn Letour Luxe.
