Bikes: Two Peter Mooney customs, a 1980 Trek 510 townie, a Marin Stelvio set up for TTs.

You're not the only one. I think if I ever have a bike refinished, it'll be white and pink pearlescent with a barber pole strip on the seat tube and gold pinstriping.

Bikes: Some silver ones, a red one, a black and orange one, and a few titanium ones

I never realized just how flat the Mississippi River valley is until I got just south of New Madrid. I could see 20 miles in any direction and, if I had a tuna can, I could have seen 100 miles in any direction. If I were to stand on my bicycle saddle, I’m pretty sure I could have seen the Statue of Liberty.

The central part of Illinois is similarly known for its relative flatness. The common wisdom is that if you get lost, you just pull out your binoculars and check the names on all of the water towers within 20 miles.

Most of the ups and downs are associated with river valleys, but there are a few spots where the ground just seems to have gotten wrinkled. Not sure how to explain it.

This particular road, Brimfield-Jubilee road, is almost like a roller coaster when done properly. Lots of fun!

On the plus side, the flat terrain does permit a good view of the weather...

Sometimes the empty road takes you through microclimates.
Started in the sun today and descended into a cold moist pocket of air fueled by nearby Snoqualmie Falls.

They're all empty roads in my area. I know somewhere I have even more photos. There are a couple I meant to post, but couldn't find. Southwest Colorado.

Two recents from Boom Rock Road, Wellington, NZ split by one of Mt Ruapehu, centre of the North Island during a road trip north a few months back.

Melrose Road, as it goes through Rockwoods Reservation. This is on the west part of St. Louis, Missouri. Lots of hills, lots of trees, and a good reason to have some low gears on your bike!
