Dang, you found that at a Goodwill??? That has got to be the score of the month. 72 or 73 sounds about right. Definitely peak bike boom era. What to you want to know about it? It's an all Campy top end racing bike.

Here's some info from an older thread.
Has anyone owned a Windsor Professional?
Brakes on your Profesional look like they are Campy medium reach, but I can't really see them well. There's some possibility they could be Galli.

Wow!
The brakes should be Universal Super68's I think. It's what my Profesional came with.

That's quite a find for a Goodwill trip. Great bike. I bought mine new about 40 years ago..still a wonderful ride. Campy group, Columbus SL tubing, Cinelli stem and bars were std on mine.
Do a search, there's been a couple threads on the bike in recent years.

This one is sort of mostly original...
...and roughly contemporary with yours. Good bikes, but they were originally sold at about half price for a comparable Italian frame. Because Mexico.

I think I must have stuck that Suntour rear derailleur on there once in a fit of pique, or maybe that was all I had at the moment. They were Campy hubs, crank and shifting, with Universal brakes.

I bought a Windsor Pro frame second hand in 1977 from a shop in Norman Ok. I had it built up with NR drive train / Sugino Mighty crank, Phil Wood hubs, fiamme rims Clement Cotton tires, Universal side-pull brakes, Cinelli stem and bars, Took the NR seatpost and Unica nitor seat from a previous bike. Total bill around $460

I remember these bikes with the Cinelli like seat clusters. Very good value for the componets they came with. I recall at the Tour of California, a rider from Mexico rode one ot these bikes. They were rumors of the frames rusting internally but never verified by me.

I saw this on craigslist so I thought I may as well post it here. It looks repainted and is forkless so I do wonder about if it was crashed. But hey, it's only $50.

I don't know if you found the serial number yet. On my Windsors, which were at the other end of the product line, it was on the seat post near the seat stay cluster. Amazing find! There was some controversy around Windsor bikes and marketing, however, I think the bikes were well made. And that goes for the whole line as far as I am concerned.

In today's dollars..the Windsor went for $2100, the 'nago for $4500. (vs 1979 dollar)

the name of the company that made Windsor was Acier-Mex,the owner was a
long time (15 yrs?) builder at Cinelli. so he knew what he was doing. the bikes
are rock solid, great downhill at max speed, thou noticeably heavier than their
Italian counterparts. the only controversy was when they slapped their stickers
on Merckx 's Colnago-made hour record bike for photos

(from Classic Rendezvous)
"My first hand knowledge of these bikes were in 1976 when as a member of my university's cycling team in Guadalajara Mexico. (Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara) I went to Mexico City to the factory (Windsor, aka Acer-Mex) and was custom fitted a Windsor pro bike. The builder of these bikes was a gentleman by the name of Remo Vecchi, who had worked for Cinelli in Italy, until he was brought over to Mexico to build these bikes. It is this reason I believe why the Windsor Pros are virtual copies of actual Cinelli's."
"At this time there was an extreme rivalry between another Mexican Bike company by the name of Benotto. It was an opportunity that Acer-Mex wanted to bring recognition for their bikes into the world market since it was they who had paid for a large percentage of costs for the world record of Eddy Merckx in Mexico City."
"Everyone knew that Mr. Merckx was not really riding a Mexican bike but an Italian one, but since the general public did not know about this (bike swap) Acer-Mex/Windsor just went along selling these bikes (Windsor Pros) assuming the public believed he actually did ride a Windsor. Benotto had been trying to get M. Merckx to go with them instead of Windsor. But like they say In Mexico "with money dance the dog". It has been thirty years since I graduated from my University and I still have my Windsor Pro. It is in mint condition and I still ride it."

I think you guys are exaggerating the bargain price a bit. Let's do the math. These were $475 in 1973 vs $750 for a Masi Criterium. That's with Universal 68 brakes. Going by some old catalog prices, upgrading to the Campy record brake option (like the OP has) must have been $50 or 60 bux. Let's say 50, so $525. So they were 70% the cost of a Masi, not 50%. In today's dollars that's $3064 vs $4648.
Masi was more or less the top dog at the time though; other Italian bikes like Colnagos sold for consideably less.
IMO Profesionals were nicer than a PX10, but not as nice as a DeRosa or Pogliaghi or something, but pretty dang close for considerably less money. Functionally, they would have been just as good as anything as a racing bike.
If you bought one new for $600, that was a total score. Sounds like the old stock ~1976 price. I actually remember prices in 1979 very well, since that's when I joined by local bike club and started shopping for a good bike. Best you could do at that price point full retail would have been something like a Univega Gran Premio, or a 'junior' level Bianchi like a Nuovo Racing. If you were willing to put a bike together yourself, a new Colnago could be pieced together for about a grand even. Frames were about $375. For full retail assembled one in a bike shop, yeah, $1300-1400 sounds ballpark.

Manny 66 said he thought the Windsor was a virtual copy of a Cinelli but there is a major difference
Cino Cinelli thought his unique seatpost binder style needed reinforcing so Cinelli 's have an internal
sleeve added to the seat tube. that's why Cinelli's seatpost size is 26.2 while the Windsor Pro is 27.2
I've never heard of any failures of Windsors becuz of this tho. I just think Cino overthought it

The main point I tried to make is $600 sounds like a modest sum today relative to 40 years ago. But $600 was a serious chunk of money back then and similar to what a very nice bike runs today($3-$4K). Actually a couple of Lemonds I have, when updating their selling price when new(2001-ish) to today's dollars, ran around $3-$4K. Things seem to be amazingly constant..
(I use https://www.minneapolisfed.org/about...ion-calculator to estimate what a dollar is worth over time.)

I have a 1972 Windsor Pro. I bought it a few years ago for $300. I think I got a great deal. It rides really well and is pretty much all Campy NR with early Phil hubs. I love that bike and to me is my affordable Cinelli.

Hi, does your Windsor Pro have any drilling’s or openings in the bottom bracket? What size do you measure from seat tube, bottom bracket center (or dustcap of crank) to top of top tube (CTT) and to center of top tube (CTC) plus the length of the top tube, center of seat post to center of head tube?
what type of bars and stem does it have?
Additional pics would be helpful. Thanks for the reply.
