Nitto Quill Stem Sizing
I have a Nitto quill stem which is stamped. 22.2mm .0875in. Is this the size for the steering tube or the handlebar? How do I know what size handlebar it will fit? I don't have a digital micrometer.

I have lots of these, 22.2 is for the steerer tube, I don’t think Nitto currently makes a 22.1 which is for old Schwinns and mountain bikes. Handle bar clamp is 25.4, or 26mm, so one or the other size bar will fit. They also make a shim to put a 25.4 bar in a 26.0 clamp. Just eyeballing it, reach looks to be 80 or 90mm. Do you have a metric ruler or tape that has a millimeter scale, if its any amount under 26mm, you know what you have. Micrometers are cheaper then that stem, if your gonna play around with bikes, I’d get one.
