Thanks. To be honest, mrs non-fixie is the true driving force behind this development. Her small frames don't allow for a decent size saddle bag and more often than not she is also in charge of our destination and route, so likes a map up front.

As for my preference, the jury is still out. I like the look of a nice front bag, but I think I prefer the feel of a mid-size saddle bag on most of my bikes. This cheap Brooks clone, which came standard with some Raleighs BITD, has served me very well for many years:

I finally got around to testing it, and it works well, even if I say so myself. The adjustability is quite useful, and the left-right movement of the bag turns out to be very limited in practice.

We'll have to see how it holds up over time, but for now I am rather pleased with it. And with myself, I might add.
