I threaded new cables on mine when I was restoring it. All I can say is, it wasn't easy... 
Took me a quite a few tries, and quite a few minutes (hours perhaps?). 
Andy K is correct, one of the best features of a Casati!!

Seriously, I had a pair of those and foolishly sold them - back when I first re-sold the frame. Been looking for a set even though my Casati refinish was purposely toned down, a set of those would add just the right touch to mine.
Whatever happened to the pink Gold Line?

That was part of the Great Hermiston Bike Heist. The headline attractions of that haul were the Casati, a Cinelli Supercorsa, and a De Rosa. I wanted the De Rosa, and made deals with other Bike Forum members for the other two before I drove out to Hermiston to make the deal. After I saw all three bikes I started to wonder if I got the lesser of the three. I'm still not sure. The Casati went to a guy in Los Angeles. It popped up on Facebook a couple of years ago, and I checked in with him to see if it had been stolen, but he confirmed that he had sold it. It's on the list of bikes I look for now and then. I could definitely make room in the garage for one of these.

Nice find. Casati experts, is this a Gold Line model? It has the aero cable routing and DT shifter mounts similar to the Gold Line/Gold Line-S models I've seen, but it lacks the "tuning fork" seat stay treatment. Do you see rifling inside the tubes, indicating SLX tubing?
Casati sold bikes called "Gold Line" for a long time with modified specs, so its not a hard criterium possibly. Shifter mount on top of the downtube and the internal cable routing put it close to mine, age-wise though - early-mid 80ies
