The lack of accuracy - from dropout to dropout - is quite remarkable, isn’t it?

We're a good match. Face it, I'll never have to worry about having to be '753' careful. Rather, if someone needs some welding work on their old trailer they use for hauling garbage to the dump, I couldn't think of a better way to prepare for Friday.

After all this work and you still call the LeBlander Sportier an "old trailer" you take to the dump?

Haha, I set that one up for you like an underhanded slow pitch!

I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone is still paying attention to their Lareigh Professionals, ReDosas, Nolcagos, Chittabottas and Nicellis when cheap, dumpy bikes are this much fun.

At this rate, keeping up the inane, insane and far from mundane posts will make the previously unthinkable possible, 2000 posts and an unfinished bike!!??

Dreams can happen. We'll need about 40 posts a day, if we are to hit that special mark before the ride. I leave the rest in your hands

Correct - one is mediocre, the other is same or slightly worse.

Not a bad bet. Might change by the day.

That's classy AF, right there. However, I am concerned about all the extra weight it adds to this svelte beauty. That said, with the weight waved by the BB cutout, maybe it's close to even.

Those edges on the cutouts are radiused for aerodynamics, yeah?

Well, the way it looks is; the forks are turning blue. Perhaps from neglect? Or maybe from all of the cutting being done to it. Maybe the work has cut off circulation to the fork arms and they could go into a degenerative failure as a result. Smiles, MH

Luckily(?) gangrene will not set in due to lack of circulation. Not to say there is no chance that the fork blades or any other part of the subject (invoke literary license here) frameset will not fall off or suffer hideous disfigurement due to some other manufacturing deficiency yet to be revealed by subsequent. . . . . . enhancement(??!!) efforts by the mastermind of hideous sacrilege, our own
TA DAH! AMC. Take a bow!

Started cleaning up handlebars tonight.

Got some 'Jestco' ano stripping stuff from a holey friend. Wow. It worked really, really well.

This is one of my 'pet peeve' areas on a bike - its easy to overlook this part, as long as it looks 'decent' but what I found was a lot of forming marks and some mild scrapes and stuff, so I'm cleaning it up and polishing, to match the stem.

After this I will wet sand, and start polishing, paying special attention not to get too heavy handed around those rollmarks.

We had a crazy storm come through...near golf ball size hail (plenty of dents in my work truck) and an 'extreme' tornado warning (which I'm sure registers as a 'mild afterthought' warning in TX/KS/OK) but relax, THE LE GRANDE IS SAFE

Sorted!

One side polished, one side not -

Both sides polished -

One more thing off the list.

Next up - cleaning up the frame and BB shell to prep for welding. Also, working on those bb adapter cups and paying much closer attention to the interference fit.

Once the frame is back from welding, I will be taking care of the rear brake adapter fitment. Then the crown race, the headset adapter cups, headset, and fork install. Prepare for problems.
