I went running errands today on my gugie butchered Austro Daimler. The bank and the bike co-op. I now have the gearing pretty ideal for my use... 14-16-18-21-24-28-36 x 26-44. 44 is right in the the center of the cassette chain line wise and a modern chain runs all cogs nicely. I can use the biggest three on the granny ring before I run into duplicates, so 10 well spaced touring gears from 19" to about 83 or 84. Works for me but..... The big news was I bought a sine Wave revolution for charging a phone or battery. On the ride home from the co-op, which is less two miles, I hooked up my phone and was careful to shut off the display when I stopped and started again, to give it a chance to charge. Anyway, in less than two miles the phone went from 80% to 85%. I'm ecstatic! I have been wanting something like this for years. Have a great day everyone, I know I am!

Sounds like you're zeroing in on the perfect bike. Is there only painting left, or do you have other tweaks in mind?

I think painting is about it but I'm going to ride it this summer as is. Planning some overnight and hopefully a couple several day trips. My color choices keep changing so we will see.

Sinewave has been producing their chargers and other goodies for quite a few years now and it all seems to be well designed and produced. I've been involved with the charging of large batteries, as well as making my own dynamo lights and standlights, so I've been intrigued by their products. Even talked with one of the Sinewave folks at a NAHBS, and they seemed to be on top of the technical stuff! Should work out well for you.

I used a sinewave to keep my phone charged as I rode across the country in 2019.
It was nice to never worry about finding somewhere to charge the phone.....

That's how I'm seeing it. I don't mind charging at diners and such but the dynamo surely would take some pressure off finding an outlet.

Me too. Each month as the color of the month changes and bikes for the new month get posted. I figure that you are thinking about a color that will go well with those noir zeppelin fenders. Unless you are thinking about painting them. That might be a different thread.

Bikes: Was Fuji and got my grails (Pro, Pro SR, Design Series, & Ti). Now I hunt 50's/60's road bikes.
I have to admit that while it is fun reading your posts, it is also fun being a Peoria native and recognizing some of the locations that show up in your posts.
I do need to swing by the coop sometime. I plan to go visit my parents in a few weeks, so maybe I will try to swing by on a Sunday morning. I could use some city brake levers. It is always fun to look around, if the shop is open while I am in town.
