Man! I tried to find a police auction in my area. I made the mistake of signing up for notices. Now all I get is SPAM!
I knew better.
So......how did you find about the auction? Maybe I'll find my stolen Specialized Expedition!

I found a regis in a trash heap once. it was way too small, but all of the components have fixed up other bikes. As I recall, it was heavy as hell. I really liked the Nitto stem, though, and the smooth bottom bracket cups were exactly what I needed when I found it.

I believe that the age of the Fuji Regis is 1979 to 1983 range. It is pre-index shifting. Anyhoo, boy you got some great deals on halfway decent wheels !!

I once got a Nishiki Alien [I think thats the name, one with the raised chain stays] rigid mountain bike for $1 at a yardsale. A few tubes and a quick release later I was comuting 10+ miles a day. I've since sold the bike cause it was to small but thats about as good as the dealls get.

I'll one up you: 1980 Peugeot PXN-10E for free. I was helping get some used bikes cleaned up for a needy-kid-Christmas-giveaway a few years ago. From a big group of donated bikes the kid rideable bikes had been sorted from the adult only sizes. At the end of the day, after "refreshing" and safety testing about 100 bikes I went and looked at the pile of discards. Right in the middle of the stack I saw the Peugeot. Asked the guy running the gig if it was up for grabs. He said to take it. I didn't really know what I had at the time, but now I see I have something worth restoring (which is going on right now). Completely free.

My neighbor GAVE me the Bianchi (see signature) several years ago, when he switched to a mountain bike. Of course, it's merely charcoal colored, rather than Celeste #217; life can be a hard to take sometimes.
