Stronglight Delta headset: spacer add?

https://www.flickr.com/photos/kurtsj00/6879006687

Would the 'washer' in the graphic above be a spacer, and if so, can I add an additional spacer between 2-3mm (or replace that 'washer' with similar) ?
(Wanting to make the overall 40mm stack height, to be around 42.5-43mm).

I suspdct thst the treaded portion of your steerer tub is a bit too long. I don't see sny problems with using a taller spacer in lieu of stock, as long you make sure you still have full thread engagement between the steerer tube and the top lock nut

The Delta top nut has a shoulder over which that washer sits. You can add a spacer to increase the stack if you need to, but you'll want to keep that original washer.

Thanks for that detail. Appreciate it.

If the original headset spacer didn't have a notch (is it a french thing?), now would be the chance to add a notched spacer there. My Look bike has no notch in the steerer tube and hence has a headset with no notched spacers. It was very hard to keep the headset tight. I ended up using Locktite to keep the headset from loosening.

That's not the (direct) fault of a missing "notched" (toothed) spacer, it's the fault of the locknut and top cone not being sufficiently tightened against one another.
Insufficiently tightened locknuts WILL result in the headset becoming loose, washer or none.

The only (indirect) possible way it would be an issue is if the stack height is then enough that the locknut binds on the top of the steerer.

Toothed washers are a useless (best case) / bad (worst case) idea.
They require a slot in the steerer or axle, removing metal and generating multiple stress-raisers.

And with aluminum headset parts, one must be particularly careful when doing so. Stronglight and Shimano made special wrenches to provide a more secure fit on their aluminum headset parts:

Easily remedied by adding a spacer under the locknut.

Toothed washers are a useless (best case) / bad (worst case) idea.
They require a slot in the steerer or axle, removing metal and generating multiple stress-raisers.
And when the tooth slips out of the slot, the threads on the steer tube get damaged.
