I can see the light....

... at the end of the garage! The Great Purge of 2023 has progressed well but it will have to be retitled "The Great Purge of 2023 - 2024" in a few short days as there is still much to do. I can safely say 99% of my tools (I have an insane amount of tools) now have proper homes and can be easliy accessed and I have added some much needed equipment to the roster. I also parted with a lot of specialized automotive tools as I no longer had any use for them. The last remaining vestiges of my automotive parts are awaiting pickup by a coworker and my cousin and I am knee deep into organizing the parts for my far too many bicycle projects. Once that is complete I begin re-organizing my general inventory and condensing it further. I'm saving the worst for last, culling the "herd" which even though I'm in the proper frame of mind will still involve some hard choices.

It's been a lot of hard work and has consumed most of my free time but it's been worth it. My New Years Resolution for 2024 is to wrap up the garage in the next couple months, get rid of some bikes, no new bikes (unless it's something really special and a great buy LOL), get as many projects back on the road as possible and spend a lot more time riding in the coming year. With that I will wish you all a Happy New Year and a great 2024!

Bikes: A bunch of old bikes.

The only problem with cleaning out is that it leaves fewer hiding places for bikes.
Happy New Year!

Some pics, lots of oddballs and little things still need dealt with but the bulk of it is nestled snug in it's bed.

So far it's all in the Guerciotti (Campy Super Record)and 1973 Raleigh Competiton (Nuovo Record) boxes. The unassigned stuff hasn't resurfaced yet.

Awesome work. I'm jealous of your tools, organization, space, and most of all motivation!

So, so envious!

Every time that I search for a part or a tool, it becomes a major rescue operation that easily gets way, way out of control as other lost artifacts and objects are uncovered from other, unrelated searches. I guess that I’m lucky that I have a bike barn that could only fit one car if the bikes were brought into the house. If I had a 3 car garage, I would probably go missing for days and eventually my spouse would contact the authorities to organize a search and rescue mission.
