Blasphemy for jdawg

What frame/bike marquee would I be least likely to pursue (for those who know me). I got sucked in. Guesses to follow. Pictures painfully being taken.

With a stable like the one you list in your signature, why not quit while you were ahead? Some beautiful bikes in that list.

I guess I don't know you well enough. Reduced to semi-random guessing. It could be a C-itoh, or a Cinelli Laser, or evidently what you just picked up.

Blasphemy!

Serial is F6814 as best as I can read. I am thinking this is an International? Maybe early 70s. Thinking maybe a candidate for a cool gravel bike if clearance with 700cs are doable.

The original cockpit and brakes won’t be used so they will be made available. Saddle too. Campy headset and seatpost And bottom bracket if Campy will stay with it.

Might see what the fuss is first before repainting it (it’s a PO paint job). Guy’s father was the original owner.

Complete with bird poop saddle. That will be cleaned up and offered up.

Original cockpit and brakes. Also going to be re-homed. Headset is dirty but I think complete

Apparently this was repainted...? Will play with chrome bits and see how bad they are...

Interesting replacement headbadge treatment. Again, chrome surgery today.

Campy drops and fork ends look intact. Not a fan of the French/English blob ends treatment of the stays and fork, but we shall see.

Another guessing game...what is under the grime...?

Bird poop on saddle was no extra charge. Will be cleaned up and re-homed! I assume a Brooks saddle was the standard spec. Seatpost was a nice bonus...if it comes out.

Thank you. I am in the process of building them all up (should be 21-22 all told), then slowly playing “Island Survivor” to pare down the ones that don’t speak to me.

Hah! No SO to please...paring down will be painful, but not pressured. I was guessing 73-74, but wasn't sure of Raleigh times. I know it was brown originally. The son kept the Campy /Weinmann tubs, NR RD, FD, shifters and crankset.

Yea, looks like an International . If so should take a pretty healthy tire for your gravel rides! I had my Mondia set up for mild dirt roads for a while . It was fun taking some of the ag roads by the orchards. Not really gravel , just dirt roads . I was able to squeeze 27” x 1 1/4” tires that measured 1.39” when inflated . Your frame reminds me of my ‘73 Mondia.

Very similar to my eye

You're one of us now...
F seriial is 1971. Mine's F8036. It's current incarnation is as an upright commuter with an 8-speed hub gear after going through phases of roughly original spec and randonneuse-ish gravel all-roads rider. Comfortably runs 700 x 35 tires with fenders. Internationals take anything you throw at them.

That'll clean up nicely, fun project! My buddy has his set up for gravel with, I think, 38mm tires.

Not the club I expected to enter...however, at $80 couldn’t resist trying one to see if my Raleighphobia still exists...

Chrome is bad. Paint is pooey.

I am going to try 35s or so and see if I can make it useful for me. Might be an N+0 at my sisters rather than the AD SLE if someone offers a new home for it.

Screaming deal, that's a lot of frame for $80. Why so down on Raleighs?
