Head branded elevated chainstay bike?

This bike popped up at my local Play-it-again sports and I am struggling to find a reason not to buy it. I am curious if anyone can ID the manufacturer, it is branded as Head (frame and seat) and has a CycleArt decal on the chainstay.

Not sure if it's the same company, but Head was pretty famous in the racquet sports world -- tennis and racquetball mainly as I recall. I think some bikes are still sold under that name through bikesdirect.com, but this one definitely looks to be vintage with the elevated chainstays and what I presume are 26" wheels.

Looks similar to a Nishiki Alien but lots of companies dabbled in the elevated chainstay design. Probably made by someone else and rebranded by Head.

Definitely built up with aftermarket components, maybe it was painted at the same time?

Seems to be a copy of the Alpine Star Mega.
