Anyone know where to get longer straddle cables? Having a difficult time finding them online. I have cables that are 105mm long, but need slightly longer ones to clear a front rack. The other solution is Mafac brakes.

Fabricate one with a regular brake cable and a cinch bolt on the other side, ala Mafac?

Dia-Compe makes two different lengths of centerpull straddle cables. One is 105 mm and the other is 290 mm (that's long!). The part number for the 290 mm cable is 1270-290. Blue Lug has some in stock but the shipping cost is going to sting. Good luck!

Bikes: they change so much I'm tired of updating this

I might have some, I’ll check in the morning.

Bikes: yes

One option would be to scour eBay for a set of Dia Compe / Weinmann centerpull breaks that came off a mixte bike and use the rear brake straddle cable. For instance:

Keep or sell the remnants.

Thanks! Unfortunately, 290mm is a wee bit too long.

Thank you for offering to check! However, no need. Reason at the bottom.

If it was for the rear brake like on a mixte I'd be happy to use a longer one, but it's for the front and I'm worried about the brake quality with such a long straddle cable. Thank you for the thought though, it's a good source.

In the end, I chose the easy way out. Went to the co-op and rummaged around for a bit. Lo and behold, Mafac Racer centerpulls with all the hardware, even the yoke! Just had to get some crusty grime off. Thanks all for the help in this thread, regardless. In the end I think we have our answer, that there are no new sources of 130mm straddle cables for dia compe/weinmann centerpull brakes. Something to remember for anyone hoping to use these types of brakes with a front rack that attaches at the fork brake mount.

You can cast/mold ends onto your own custom length cables using soldiering iron (or propane torch) and a wood form to make the end barrel shape from electrical soldier.
Example youtube video directions start 5 minutes into this DIY;

This can be a handy technique for fabrication of replacement cables for lawn/garden power equipment repair which tend to use unadjustable pre-fabricated cables which can be difficult or expensive to source for replacement.
