really good thread that captures the vintage vibe and the spirit of "don't be afraid to get in there and take it apart"

one of the great things about bikes is that, whether it's true wheels or properly adjusted shiftingyou can feel the benefit of your careful work !

nice

Hey all. I just wanted to give a shout out for those of us that have dealt with those chrome plastic dust caps that scuff and crack so easily , especially if overtightened. I just received a set of aluminum ( polished) from UK that I bought on eBay . They are really nice , the threads are perfect for Campy pedals! They look really nice and the Campy dust cap wrench fits perfectly.

Merz made some nice polished caps too, not cheap! But watchmaker precision level.

these were about $20 a pair with shipping and very well made. Some of the repop plastic are hard to thread, not these. The vendor is Veloheaven.

I used to obsessively replace the axles in my Campagnolo pedals. If you saw the cages, you would understand why, lots of pedal strikes. I have the tool with a wrench for the cone on one side and the cap on the other. Crummy sheet metal tool, but it made servicing the pedals a lot easier.
