Hey folks - we have started to lose the point of this post. It’s about whether juvela is ok or
not. I only communicated with him via the DM function here so have no idea of his contact info. Hoping someone closer might be able to have him check in long enough to say “all good”. Could be as simple as a computer crash or vacation or just fed up. Let’s hope that’s the worst it could be.

He probably had enough.

Maybe, he wanted out. He didn't want to hurt our feelings. He was given a way out. His bikes are clean and he is riding lots.

apparently saying you are going to report someone is like saying you are going to sue. People that do it don't tell you first.

I hope he finds his way back. Selfishly, I will need some expert identification help on a couple bikes I purchased recently. It is always fun seeing him rattle off the lug patterns and tying it to countries and manufacturers for our inquiring minds.

I have known him for many years but he is a private person I sent an email to check how he is doing. I know that he enjoys this forum which I believe I first introduced him to.

I’ve always wondered how he has the information he does at his fingertips regarding so many niche parts, pieces and patterns. Does his background speak to this in any way or does he have an extensive archive of catalogs that he references?

I sent a pm to him a few weeks back but I understand that he might not wish to visit the site even if PMs. If you happen to contact him please forward my best wishes and I miss reading his stuff.

That's like me saying I had a peanut butter sandwich yesterday for lunch, I tested positive for COVID yesterday evening, and therefore peanut butter sandwiches cause COVID. Correlation is not the same as causation.
The reality is that, without comment from juvela, neither of us know: we are all surmising and offering opinions. In case I wasn't clear (although I believe I was), I offered an opinion, and did not state is as a fact. You stated a different opinion - which is fine as far as that goes - but you are trying to turn that opinion into fact. It isn't, and repeating the opinion over and over again doesn't make it any more factual.

Marks intent was not clearly malicious IMO but he hasn't shared yet so......
He may have regretted his action after it was too late but who knows.

Please everyone stop with the accusations and interpersonal bickering. The important thing here is that we have lost a gracious, knowledgeable, and generous member. He has helped me out repeatedly and educated me on many issues having to do with bikes of the fifties and sixties. He is an irreplaceable asset to our community. I am concerned for his welfare if, as mentioned, he has not posted in The Cabe either. I too sent him a personal message a few days ago and have heard nothing back.
@madscrambler I would greatly appreciate your checking in on him and letting us know if he is well.

FYI: Monsieur Juvela is alive and well. He has chosen to cease posting here, following Mr Petry's reply, as you will have understood from his final post. After more than 15,000 posts, all made with the best intentions to enlighten, support and amuse, Petry's post was not well-received.

a slight hi-jack, maybe, but I always thought juvela (never knew what is actual name is, only his C&V handle) who had and shared so many scans of vintage catalog pages and advert scans in his many informative postings to us in this forum, must have been somehow connected to that treasure trove of reference materials that goes by "Velo Pages" (https://www.velo-pages.com/main.php).
But that would make him either RS Broderick or someone very much like him, and I'm not looking to "Dox" or otherwise out his identity since he apparently prefers to remain anonymous.
But can anyone here (who knows for sure) just confirm (safest method would be PM me) that he's NOT RS Broderick?
just so I can put that notion to rest, and get on with my other OCD preoccupations?

and PPS: I sure hope he eventually decides to rejoin us here, his contributions are priceless!
