Ready for Spring
Got the Falcon I got at the end of last year all ready for Spring. All bearings greased, bottom bracket, steer tube, wheels, new cables, new brake pads, new tires. Now, I just need a saddle. Hoping to find something at the Philly bike show tomorrow. A bit more cleaning to do and eventually the bar tape replaced. Not sure if I’ll stay with red bar tape and red casings.
*** I forgot to mention the freewheel was upgraded and overhauled by Pastorbob. He was able to put a 26 tooth sprocket on the original Regina freewheel for the old man legs***

The cable housing from the chain stay to rear derailleur needs a bit of help to avoid that kink. What I have done is add a thin zip tie about an inch from the stop to help the cable housing lie a bit flatter. In the alternative, the old style coiled metal housing works very well and does not materially diminish your shifting accuracy.

Looking sweeeeeeet! Do you need a piece of the old fashioned Campy uncovered RD cable housing? I've got plenty and would be glad to send you some. What kind of saddle are you looking for?

What a beautiful bike! I especially love the head tube badge. The barrel adjusters for the brake levers are really interesting; I've never seen anything like that before.

Finally completed with the Brooks saddle from Bob- pastorbobnlnh. Unfortunately it turned cold again here in PA. As soon as it hit 60, I’ll get her outside.

It looks like you replaced the OEM Weinmann brake pads with KoolStops -- great move!
I love the way that bike looks. Nice job. Do you know its approximate age? I am guessing late 1960s - early 1970s, when wraparound seat stays were fashionable, but it might be earlier than that. Looks essentially like an upscale Raleigh Super Course -- not a bad thing!

Could be...I'll ask the Mrs.

Thanks. I think the bike is circa 1973 due to the green color. I could find no reference to that color in any Falcon catalogue other than the 1973. Some folks state it really is not a good way to judge because in the 70’s bike boom, manufacturers built bikes and painted them anyway they could. It has some of the stated equipment but not all. So is it a 1973? I cannot say with certainty. Is it from around 1973, I would think so. But really….who cares, I always wanted one.
