The tires are Kendra k53's, size 26X2.125. They ride more like cruiser tires than mountain tires, but that is OK because the most this bike will do is gravel paths.

I had a hard time finding ant true skin-wall tires. Does anybody still make them in anything larger than 1.95's?

1996 Specialized Ground Control. A bit heavy, but fun to ride. Shock and fork probably need servicing.

This is a 1988 Jamis Dakota that I restored for a friend. It turned out pretty well. Pretty heavy bike, but felt like it could take a beating on the trail.

Happens to me all the time... mind you... I have been at this a while and many searches bring me to my own photos, my website, and Bike Forums and in checking, I have over 40,000 links to Bike Forums alone.

If I cannot find an image I posted I just Google it.

Type in Ron Cooper, Proctor, Moulden, Raleigh Lenton, and for kicks...Peugeot PLX8.

Well I think you are right! That explains why the Mean Streak exists, and is about the same spec as the Ridge Runner. It was from a different year, and the RR was gone from the lineup.

Thanks for the catalog pics. I've also seen a black and silver Mean Streak, also lugged frame. I wonder what year that was from.

It's possible the mean streak continued in to 1985.. I haven't been able to find any info about the DB line up that year

(Posted separately and here for the historical record)

As I have reported elsewhere, I literally picked up this 1991 Haro Extreme from a neighborhood curbside pile of junk.

https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...highlight=haro

There was grass growing through the cassette and it obviously had been left outside for years. It was the finish that intrigued me. From those years in the sun, the paint was thin and mottled, but intact.

I considered powder coating, but decided to see if I can preserve some of the patina while improving the finish. After cleaning and a little polishing, I touched up the scratches and used a red paint wash to blend some of the areas. Then, I built up the finish with clearcoat and laboriously sanded it down with a Scotch pad.

The finish I was looking for was that of an old, well used red pickup truck.

BTW, the tires are Performance Gothams -- 1.75 all around tires with an allaround tread. I discovered that this is what the Scottsdale Police use on their patrol bikes.

Have a good weekend, all.

I struggled just last week with that same seat QR. seems like it's poorly designed in that you to reach under the seat and loosen the nut to get remove the qr completely. there is some slot that it sticks into that wouldnt allow me to turn the actual qr to remove it. was lucky I tried the nut instead of forcing the qr lever to turn.

1988 Specialized StumpJumper

Twenty four years ago, my wife and I walked into an outdoors supplier store. Saw this bike, she let me make an offer, and we took it home that night!

It has got some features: Bio-Pace crank set (elliptical chain rings); rear caliper hung from the chain stays- plus, a sharks tooth; System Indexed Shifting, can be off or on; front brake cable run through the handlebar stem; three chain rings, 6 freewheel cogs- can go up any hill; still wearing out the original Ground Control tires (new tubes, of course); quick release saddle post; Shimano Deore cranks, derailleurs, shifters, and brakes.

OMG, these MTB collections are incredible and like some of the C&V road bike collections we see here.

https://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/vie...er=asc&start=0

Are C&V MTB's hot items in the UK and Europe?

They're multiplying!

I bought one of these Diamondback Apexes off craigslist for the Deerhead parts and then a month later another one (the larger, which was mostly complete, but had some rough parts on it) showed up at a price I couldn't pass up. Nice bikes, but I already have too many and I have a Cimarron and Terra Runner already that cover this territory.

Anybody (local) need one of these frames? One is 19.5" and the other is 23", would be great for a dropbar conversion.

yeah but are either of them a lovely seafoam green like the Apex? I'd love to find a complete and original 20" frame w/ components. I have an early run frame made with Tange Infinity MTB, would love to get the later an more common Tange MTB tubed frame
