Don't know much about Miele other than that they were a Canadian company; that looks like a nice lugged frame. I have an old Giant something or other with triple butted tubes that came with Mountain LX components from 88, so your guess of late 80's would be accurate. That Mountain LX stuff is actually pretty nice. I, too, have the alloy clamp and integrated thumbshifter mount brake levers that are surprisingly nice.

Aside from setting up the chain rings and front d my 1987 Kuwahara Cascade has almost been returned to her formerly geared glory so I can use her as a 26 inch touring bike.

Used a vintage Suntour Cyclone GT in the rear and Suntour Barcons up front for buttery smooth shifting, rear cassette is an 11-34, and will set up the front with a half step but have not settled on the gearing yet.

I have two amazing vintage mountain bikes. One is a Colnago 1990 Master Ibex and one is a 1996 Marin Team FS3. If someone can tell me how to upload pictures, I would be happy to share them.

if anyone is interested I saw a beautiful Bianchi Incline MTB on eBay this morning in Kettering OH. it is in fabulous shape and of course is Celeste. it seemes to be a '89 judging by the Mountain LX components on it. looks like it might be a 19.5 frame

I had to go take a picture of the f'ed up back tire, so I thought I'd get one of the whole bike pimped out for running errands.

I think it's a combination of the angle and the black rubber blocks for mounting the fenders. The bike rides straight and I doubt that it has a hundred miles of riding on it in it's whole life.

Vintage MTBs are way undervalued and serve a wide variety of purposes, but for those who use them as utility bikes, do you not find the high BB annoying? I was realizing for the first time today that the high BB on my "basket bike" was annoying when I stop at intersections and can't lean over and plant my foot on the ground, I have to do the ballet toe. It was the only flaw I have found in my beloved kuwahara made 23" ishawata quad butted MTB tubing fully lugged frame. I'll get some photos one of these days.

I had originally put up some quick photos back in post #601 of my Yeti. While I was out riding it today(for the first time) I took some better shots of it kind of cleaned up. Lot's of fun, freaky colors and anodized bits.

I think this is a 1991-1992 Asian Schwinn/Paramount MTB- series 30 PDG. It is a nice riding bike-unfortunately it is too tall for me(18") so it will be moving on .

Beginning to amass quite a collection of vintage MTBs......unintentionally mind you. The bike I normally ride is a Gunnar Rockhound......with rim brakes and 26" wheels it's quickly become a C&V. Recently bought and rebuilt a Manitou 3 for the Haro Vector and intend to use as a winter beater.

I have trouble seeing you on that bike.
Aside from not being a Fuji, isn't it too small for you?

I had the joy of cleaning this old GT Timberline today. My brother got it for $15.
Shimano thumb shift 7 speed, Shimano F/R derailleurs, Specialized crank, Araya rims on Shimano hubs, and cantilevers. I think everything is alivio or acera or something. Top tube has a channel underneath to hide the cables, sort of slick feature. This bike weighs a good 30-35 lb though! 4130 cromo.

I don't know what I can do with it for him other than clean the dirt off, pump up the tires and give it back.
That frame is so darn heavy!
At least it has specialized armadillos on it with reflective sidewalls.

I get out of the seat for any light I don't trackstand for, even on my road bike. My cruiser is the only one I keep the butt planted on.

But, if you do want a low BB MTB, just get a mid-90s designed-around-suspension rig and put a too-short rigid fork on it. You'll be dragging pedals quite a bit if it has 175s, but the BB WILL be lower.

Top, it is a bit of a change for me, the geometry is so different than my road bikes. It seems to fit me comfortably, I mean it's a lot of fun to ride. I seem to spend more time out of the saddle and if I do any road riding between trailheads it feels like I'm mired in quicksand compared to my lightweights.

And yes, I'm still searching for an early '80's MTB or BMX. Fuji of course!

Nice Access. Columbus SL tubing, right? One of the best values in old MTBs, nice specs, yet hardly anybody knows about them. I bought a very neglected 1988 for parts recently.

^^ yes ish you are correct on all counts. I have never seen another one in these parts. It makes for a lively road bike I'm finding. Very close to road bike manners.

all that's left original of mine is the handlebars, rear wheel (unbelievably), seat post, headset, bottom bracket. That's it. I raced it hard for years.
