I spotted this '86 Paramount (56cm) earlier today. $280 with 9 days to go?

Also, this seller has some nice 70's & 80's rides.

For all you really tall Paramount fans, check out this Ebay ad. It is so beat up and the pictures are so bad, I am not even sure it is a Paramount. It appears the seller doesn't know much about bikes either. Check out the dimensions. I especially like the reference to Italy.

mswantak 01-11-06 12:02 AM

Looks more like an old Super Sport to me.

cyclotoine 01-11-06 11:54 AM

Def. not a paramount.

PX-10 on ebay - here's the link. not mine

looks like a px10, but was the fork replaced? its all chrome. the head tube and seat tube angle look off, maybe because the size of the bike and/or maybe fork rake makes the bike look peculiar?

It's a PX10. I think it's about a '75. Definitely post '74 based on the decals. 1975 is a desireable year because Bernard Thevenet won the TdF on a Peugeot that year. The head tube angle does look too steep. Maybe the accident that necessitated a replacement fork also tweaked the frame. I wouldn't bid on it without seeing some better pictures.

Here's what the head tube angle looks like on my smaller frame:
http://community.webshots.com/photo/...15751436tfLEfp
It's steeper than the Gitane next to it, but it doesn't look as steep as that bike on eBay. Like you said, maybe it's the frame size that makes it look that way.

Poguemahone 01-11-06 08:06 PM

The PX10 might be a PX10E; they had a steeper head tube angle, quite noticeable. Can post pics of a 73/4 E model, next to a 72 PX10, if anyone would like to see... Not sure that model ran that late, but it had the fancy Nervex lugs later than the regular PX, and those look like the fancy lugs... can't be sure, the phots are pretty minimal.

Agree on the fork. Would like to know the why of the replacement; may be as innocuous as a replacement of the original HS w/ an English one, as bad as a wreck.

i thought also px10e. i remember from a previous post how you remarked on the steeper head tube angle. yeah and good point on the possibility of the crash. i looked at the sellers number of sales and was surpried that he didnt anticipate qeuestion. that was bizare - i mean if you sold only 8 items then i would give you the benifit of the doubt, but something doesnt smell right. he has enough of experience to know that people will ask questions.

dirtdrop those are nice bikes. i thought that px10 were all white and black (besides the blue/yellow) yours has the same color of lugs as the frame. did they do that on non nervex pro lugs.

my new project px10 has white nervex pro lugs w/ a blue outline - looks nice

Grand Bois 01-12-06 12:00 AM

Mine's a '74 PX10LE. I took the picture with the Gitane to show how steep the Peugeot's head tube is. The frame and paint is original, but it's been "desecrated" with full Campy NR/SR and Nitto moustache bars.

I'd like those fancy lugs better if they didn't paint them black.

Poguemahone 01-12-06 09:19 AM

The PXs were also available stock blue with black lugs. Peugeot started painting the lugs the bike colour sometime mid seventies ('75?).

I think the seller has no clue what the bike is, and would likely be fairly uninformative, although they would try to help. Their responces show them to be a bit bufuddled by the questions they have recieved thus far.

CV-6 01-12-06 12:43 PM

Craigslist SF Bay area. Lejeune track bike. A bit high IMO, considering it is not complete and is not painted as a Lejeune anymore. No size indicated. Closer and cheaper and you guys would never see this post. ;)

LOL! I just e-mailed him to ask if he wants to buy a set of decals for it. :D

bigbossman 01-12-06 06:54 PM

What do you guys think about this one? Looks to be my size, and it would be fun to build a "modern" bike...... :)

You are colorblind, aren't you? :p

Just adding on (and not saying AT ALL that anyone's done it yet), but this is not the thread to post your bikes and bike-related products for sale. If we find you are doing so, the post will be deleted. If you are a paid member, we'll simply split the thread and create a thread for you in the Marketplace.

Have fun!

Thank you >BLUSH< Mine has a few nicks and blemishes from use, but I've been fortunate with damage being minimal and I've meticulously maintained it over the years.

I have another (smaller) one that I bought at the same time - it's my wife's. For various reasons it has hardly ever been ridden, and hangs in the garage in "as new" condition. I doubt it has 100 miles on it. Really, not a mark on it - and it even wears the original Miyata tires. She's been after me to sell it, but I like looking at it - it's pretty.... :D

Hey mswantak! Here's something you might like.

http://www.craigslist.org/eby/bik/124891622.html

mswantak 01-13-06 10:57 AM

I saw that this morning. Looks like a Sprite with a 25 1/2" frame. If he hadn't lost the fenders somewhere along the line it would've been worth a call. A few listings further up, some guy in Corte Madera is trying to peddle a '71 Raleigh Sport for the bargain basement price of $500. Why, hell -- I'll take two at that price!

USAZorro 01-13-06 10:59 AM

Someone on CR ID'd it as a Super Tourer. Regardless though, the frame might be a little too large for you.

mswantak 01-13-06 11:13 AM

Nah, it's a Sprite. The ST never came in Coffee, the seat tube bands, bars, and pedals are all Sprite. The ST had either 4 or 5 narrower black bands, Euro-style alloy radonneur bars, and rat traps. Besides, he should pay me to have to go to West Oakland. ;)
