Ahaha - good one! :D

I love the ones that give you almost enough detail... Either one in this ad would have been considered, but when I sent an email to ask about size, after a week discovered that they are both too small (54's I think)

http://allentown.craigslist.org/bik/127157410.html

But my favorites are the ones that give you no information, I tried to find one I saw in the past few months that said nothing about the bike except it was red... This one is just as good:

Maybe he thought it was like an ATM and inserts the decimal point automatically.

:D

mswantak 02-23-06 01:29 PM

Oh, just you guys wait -- the SF craigslist is crawling with them. I'll be back momentarily...

mswantak 02-23-06 01:39 PM

Here's a good start.

mswantak 02-23-06 01:46 PM

I may swoop on this one myself

So to recap, both brakes work to some degree, and the left one is brand new...

Of course, with the right decals, it could be whatever you want it to be. :D

Here's another for you fellows:

It's very rare! Sure! And it's rare enough to have a reserve on it!

Holy cow! After reading the description I checked to see where the seller was, expecting it to be overseas based on the writing.

Wisconsin.

bassplayinbiker 02-23-06 03:28 PM

I didnt think TT bikes had reflectors.....

cyclotoine 02-23-06 04:19 PM

these are nothing.... I have seen guys with sand blasted aluminum X-mart full suspension bikes claiming they are custom and cost such and such to build trying to rip people off.. but here is one:

http://vancouver.craigslist.org/bik/135541836.html

no doubt it may have been pricey in it's day but I don't consider Trek custom... maybe personalised compenents...

EDIT: sorry I am not implying this is an X-mart rip off attemp mearly an add I find humourous

Artkansas 02-23-06 04:43 PM

I was surprised no one snapped up this one....
http://cgi.ebay.com/SALE-Men-Racing-...QQcmdZViewItem

He even had it in two auctions at the same time one starting at $49.99 and one at $69.99. "You Cannot Buy A Bike Of This Quality Today For Under $500! " He said, and "You’ll Have Seen These In The Tour de France!" It's amazing that not one cyclist took the bait. Not!

cyclotoine 02-23-06 05:05 PM

I like how he took a photo of the high tensile steel logo... I've always wanted a gas pipe!

Whoa, this guy either needs to use grammar check or an ad writer!

Actually, I got a giggle out of how that ruler pointing out bottom bracket clearance (MTBing anyone?) nicely almost hid the rusted crank bolt.

I actually saw this and thought "I've heard of Shoguns... I wonder... " Then saw the details of the frame etc. I also love the photo measuring the pedal width. :)

Apparently one person clicked to get the estimated shipping cost, and it was over $120... more than the bike is worth.

Wisconsin.

I always thought that Wisconsin was a foreign country.

I really like how these lightweight rare tour day france bikes weight 26 thru 30 pounds. . .

RARE!!!! Schwinn Paramount Track Frame!!! Apparently from Aug. 1971 (Serial #H7157) with a new-style badge.

Only 127.50 (Reserve Not Met)

Maybe I'm not very knowledgable with Schwinn Paramount's - but that's rediculous.

I predict that frame will bring at least $300.00. I have no interest in it, but it seems to be a fine frame with a few cosmetic issues.

This one has been on Boston's CL all week:

http://boston.craigslist.org/bik/136604876.html

The seller started at $250 and is now down to *only* $200. I mean, it's a fine, servicable three-speed, but it's priced at four times what any sane person should pay.

And here's my candidate for worst bike photography of, perhaps, all time:

That Phillips could fetch $200 out here, $150 for certain.

Once I DLed the Raleigh pic and adjusted the levels, it looks more like an early '50s DL-1.
