Why spend the effort on an auction with a reserve? If the reserve is not met, the seller is free to offer the bike to the highest bidder. It is a reserve, and not a starting bid, there is a reason for that difference.

Of course, there is really no point now, since the bike has now been bid up beyond what the OP was apparently willing to pay.

It is nice a bike. Was it an 8 speed? Way too big for me though. I think about $750 is in more in line for such a tall bike. If it was a 54-58 with Campy Record/Chorus maybe closer to the $1200. Personally, $1200 for a Shimano bike is a bit on the high side. E-mail him and maybe he'll take less, be polite.

I'll sell you a 1989 Paramount OS, (60cm) with a 9speed D/A group for $1200. Personally, I think my OS is worth more than this bike, and I doubt I'd get $1200 for it.

Is it a Waterford built or made in Japan? The Japanese bikes are real nice but they haven't caught on yet, maybe in time. The upgrade from 8 to 9 or 10 is real easy. All you need is a cassette, chain and new brifters. You could sell the 8 speed parts to help defray the cost and get into the bike for reasonable money. Good luck

My bike was made in Waterford. One of the very first OS frames, with silver brazed lugs. My point is, I've seen Waterford built OS paramounts like mine for less than $1200, and they are clearly wrth more than the regular guage tubing bike in the auction.
