I just added another to the collection myself today - though it's being stored at jsharr's house (see the Catch of the Day thread). Wife wasn't too thrilled to hear, but for the price, I couldn't pass it up.

No photos as yet, but here is the list:

I have tried to persuade Mr. East Hill that he does not really need that pickup occupying valuable space in the garage anymore. Fortunately, there are two rooms off the back of the garage. One used to be the former owner's home office. It has heating, electricity, a telephone jack, and my bike work stand. The other room holds the hot water heater and some bikes.

Looking at my list, I can tell I need to mix it up a bit with a few different years, eh?

East Hill

Reading this thread and decided to take a tour of my house and shed to see what bicycles I actually had. 12 Italian racing bikes and 14 Australian/British racing bikes with 5 Aust. roadsters. Ive also got drawers and rafters chock-a-block with parts.

I tried to give them all a run last weekend (to keep the bearings moving) but I 'ran out of puff' and time well before they all hit the tarmac.

This is getting crazy; I may need to talk to a 'professional'!

You guys are ridiculous. Any more than 3 bikes is just silly, why not donate some of them?

This reminds me of the rap stars who have 30 cars...and don't drive any of them.

Not silly actually. I have a bikes for a number of purposes. I have one that I sometimes use for grocery shopping, one I ride on group rides, one that I ride on longer rides, a mountain bike, one that goes on the trainer, one that gets ridden on cruddy days (beater) and one or two others that I like and are fun. They all get ridden, just some more than others.

The garage also contains the entire Island of Sodor, my G scale trains; 4 locos & 40 cars, 1/32 Carrera slot car track w/14 cars, my computer graphics workstation, an entire woodworking shop, metal shop and other assorted collections including 200 Ferrari models, my T-shirt collection (300+) and of course family keepsakes AND Christmas decorations!
And it's only a two carless garage!

And NO...nothing is for sale!
I only buy what I will keep!

OK.. The results of three months trying to thin the herd has left me with three more bikes than I had in the message in July.

I have given up two, and gained five. The Motobecane mixte and 1989 Cannondale touring bike are gone. I have gained a 1955 Corvette, a 1960 Jaguar, a 1974 Raleigh Lady's Sports, a blue Schwinn Varsity and a 1980ish Nishiki Custom Sport...

The Nishiki, Raleigh Sports and Varsity are available to a good home. Just pick them up or pay for shipping.

BTW I have tried to contact the seller of a Centurion Ironman Expert for sale on Philly's CL... I may actually decide against that since I already have the same bike one year newer and one level up in components...

I was bored at work the other day and wrote down all of the bikes/frame I bought in the last 12 months. I bought 28 in the last 12 months. I sold 7 bikes this summer. Right now there are two bikes hanging from the garage. The rest of the bikes are in the basement with my bike workshop. I need to really clean the basement up and get my bikes and shop in a better organization. The bikes are spread around the basement.

What can you say about these ones? I never heard of a schwinn "henderson", sounds interesting, I take it the Aeroline is a "clunker"?

Yes its true you don't need more than a few bikes, but what can you do? Sometimes you just can't help yourself. I'd like to lessen my load a lil, but some of them I could never let go.. not until they're pried from my dead hands!

No, both are reasonably decent balloon-tire machines. One has been sloppily repainted (Schwinn), the other, partially repainted (white is original, red is a cheap repaint over teal). I don't care much for either of the bikes, however, the Schwinn Henderson is the bike that started all this. I bought the Aeroline from an elderly fellow by the name of George Titus who would repair bikes from his house for $30 - he has since passed on.

Henderson was one of Schwinn's re-badge brands - same as B.F. Goodrich, for instance.

An EG Bates track bike, which will eventually be ridden on the track
A narsty old department store double suspension MTB, modified with motorcycle handlebars, just for fun.
A Raleigh Quasar 80's 501 road bike, being converted to a modern interpretation on the classic english sit up and beg bike theme, but single speed rather than 3 speed.
An HR Bates cantiflex bike, because I really wanted one of those unusual English frames of the 50's.

There are also lots that are on their way out to sell. I do give away bikes though, 4 in the last 6 months.

I have sold four bikes in the last month, and I still cannot walk into my garage yet. Well, sold two for great prices, and two went in a charity auction yesterday. Bought in the last year? Close to 10 I would imagine?
I have slowed down lately. Once I had bikes parked outside under the carport, I realized it was time to thin the herd a bit. I'm now starting to up the quality of my herd with a few vintage roadies, and some nice newer bikes. Mostly what I had before were no name lowbuck cruisers with a lot of money poured into them. Time for some respectable names, hehe. Yeah I have a few old ratty Schwinns, and a couple of very nice custom Schwinns, a few off brands, etc etc. All told I currently am hovering around 30 bikes, with about 20 being ridable with notice. Pedal install, air up tires, 20 minutes digging it out, etc etc, lol!~!,,,,BD



This was summer of 2003 I believe. The problem is much worse now, lol! No, wait....I finished the orange stretch cruiser in April 04, so I guess it was Summer 04....

I've always fancied a stretch cruiser!

They're a very relaxing way to get around, 2 wheel style. People also stare, kids go oooooh! and whooaaah! They can also haul buns with a nexus rear. The fat tires ride very nice also.,,,,BD
