Not a bad price on a Rivendell Rambouillet, but methinks his front forked got tweaked in the same mishap that warped his front wheel. Something just doesn't look right (crappy pictures, too).

See if you can find anything about the bike in this auction.

That was on and off ebay several times. I seem to remember the seller describing that it had been removed a previous time because a "problem" was discovered. Apparently, that problem is no longer a problem?

I've seen this seller's auctions more often than I'd like. I think seller needs to hire a lawyer to help explain that fine print should be smaller than 8 pt font.

I think it's time for a separate thread for backwards forks only.

caloso 01-10-07 03:40 PM

The chain and other spots are rusty from sitting outside. This does not affect the performance of the bicycle.
Oh, really? And to think of all the money I've wasted on lube....

Complete moron and @$$hole. Talks his head off about his rules and regulations, but doesn't realize he left this incorrect (for if it is correct, he's a con man to boot) line:

A 20% or $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 48 hours of auction's end. The balance is due within 7 days of auction's end.
What if I win the bike for 1 cent? Dummy...

Not to mention:

BUT UNLESS YOU ARE THE WINNING BIDDER or if the auction has not ended yet please do not ask me about shipping quotes (WEIGHT AND SIZE OK) otherwise E-bay has links for that reason. The buyer is responsible for all shipping charges. Only for the winning bidder I will gladly arrange to have your item shipped to your front door and the cost will be added to the total price of the item.
Idiot...

There is No Way this belongs in catch of the day ...so .....

Numbskull of the day? ? ...... Probably me!
Answered a craigslist ad, asked about euro bikes, I have a growing addiction to old, lower end euro steel,

Nice, honest seller, good guy, I don't think He even knew his basement storage area had gotten that wet. Anyhow, the thought of a Tyler, "Made in Poland" Roadbike was too much for me...so off on the 25 mile drive I went.

I gave him $10 so I didn't drive home in an empty Jeep, I think it's savable, won't know until after I sandblast it.

Still pretty kewl to find a 10-speed from the edge of the iron curtain!

Be sure to primer it RIGHT AWAY! Sandblasted steel rusts faster than...

Yes indeed! Very unique! Can't wait to see pics of that when it's back on the road!:D

Rabid Koala 01-11-07 09:46 AM

I used to have one of these in the late '60s, and would not mind having one again, but not for $180!

Not a numbskull seller, but I had to quote this line: "The tires were stolen from it and I don't have the money to replace them (~$60), so this bike would be ideal for you if you stole my tires." I think he means the wheels.

Not a numbskull, but rather a collector of the unique and different. Spoken from another collector who'd rather have a few nice quality gaspipe specials than a Masi. And a guy who'd really like to finally own a Favorit - it's only been 36 years since I last tried to get one.

Makes me wonder what the, currently unknown, shipping is going to be if the final bid IS $.01. $200.00? I was tempted to start a bidding war by going $.03, but would be scared that I'd win and THEN I'd find out the real cost.

Rabid Koala 01-11-07 08:50 PM

Not for $150, either.

The Raleigh Sprite of your dreams for a BIN of $250. Uh, yeah.

I came really close to doing a best offer of $35, but even that might be high. Did you read his feedback? What an ***hole, lol.,,,,BD

Bikedued 01-12-07 06:51 AM

I'm okay with them selling the bike for $250, in the shape the photo shows. But, they've been
trying to sell it forever off and on. The picture? It's from memorylane-classics.com. I called them on it
a year ago, and they're still using it. If you can afford a $250-$300 dyno cruiser, you can afford a camera.,,,,BD
