I asked him about it, he made some valid points, feels if an entry level bike with similar components sells for $1500, this may bring $800, and if not, he's gonna ride it himself. I like his attitude.

Yeah, he edited it later, after I told him about it. He was a pretty big jerk about the whole thing. I could have posted his last comment, but thought better of it. Trying to get $450 for a Cannondale fixie was enough punishment. He said.....

"so what! and some idiot will pay too.

He thinks his potential buyers are idiots. That's a fresh approach to flipping bikes if I ever heard one.,,,,BD

Not sure what to think about this one. But if he's putting a little kid in the kiddie seat on the shopping cart/sidecar, that just seems pretty out there.

"frame built for smaller-sized and lighter person"

Otherwise, presumably, the fork might bend more from the stress?

This is why you should lock up your bike when you go in "just for a minute."

It's a rather distinctive adult tricycle. I've seen it downtown a couple of times before it was stolen. Don't know that he left it for just a minute, either.

There was a CL ad for a trike the other day for $350 or so. I emailed them for pictures and it was "already sold". I couldn't help but wonder if that was it. Normal adult trikes don't sell for that much used.

I would probably agree with him. To someone like me, [that is a relative noob with no bike tool kit etc.] a decent vintage bike built up with good components by someone who sounds as though they know what they are doing might be worth the money to me if that is what I were looking for. Sometimes one is willing to pay "retail" for something they truly want. Maybe they had one when they were a kid... (like my atala frame found on Ebay. Worth every penny to me.)

That listing is more good salesmanship than knuckleheadedness or dishonesty.

I buy a few things per year on Ebay. Rarely are they any sort of true bargain beyond the simple fact that they are used.

I've also sold several things on Ebay, and gotten more than I expected. Like $800 for an out of date "itanium" computer. Woo hoo!

Neither do I, but when it says such a specific time as 1:35 pm, it kind of seems like he was only away from the bike for a short time.

And in a similar vein, I feel for this guy. That looks like a beauty.

On a side note:

Don't you wish you'd see a Numbskull selling a "Schwinn Bike" for $100, and it turns out to be a Paramount?

I've been waiting for that post for 1 year now.

Or $200.
Or $300.
Or $400.
Or $500.
All I want is the frameset...

GAHHH!

I must be missing something. Aside from the saddle height, it seems fine for those things.

Original pic was of a gas powered scooter. Seller finally changed it.

I just spoke w/ her and referred her to this site/Vin Val Inqu.... She seemed like a harmless old lady who had been taken for a ride by some Jerk who claimed to be a bike mechanic...Exage group w/ 1 Tiagra replacement..

I don't think that she meant any harm, but it sounds like so many others... trying to supplement their income....
