Is this a Colnago?

Hi, I am a complete newbie to the world of vintage bikes, but this forum convinced me to start my first repair / restoration project... thanks, I think.

I picked up this bike on Ebay as it was advertised as a Colnago and was cheap. I am not disappointed as it is still quite a nice bike, but I am not sure it is genuine.

It was purchased in Melbourne, Australia and has: 60cm lugged steel frame, old Shimano 105 deraileurs and SIS downtube shifters, Biopace cranks, Mavic wheels, Galli Maillard (sp?) hubs, 3TTT cowhorn bars, Weinmann brakes and levers. The Colnago stickers look like they may not be factory, or perhaps they are just old.

Some pics are attached.

Let me know if you know what it is or if there is anything specific I should look for. Any tips or warnings about what I am getting myself into would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Do you have any pics of the seat cluster? If you click my sig you can see one of my bikes, a Colnago Sport. It was apparently Colnago's low-end entry bike to meet the demand of the bike-boom but it was only sold in Canada. It is a good bike and has some nice lugs but is nowhere near as fancy-ass as some of the higher-end Colnagos. Maybe you have something similar that was marketed for the Australian market?

There was one Colnago Sport recently on ebay but I cannot figure out how to search for items that have ended; the seller had some great detailed shots of his bike, maybe someone can help us out and show us how to search ended auctions?

Thanks jet sanchez, yours certainly does look similar. I will try and get some detailed shots soon.

As you say, mine has no detailing to suggest Colnago other than the stickers (unfortunately). It does have a number stamped under the bottom bracket which I will note down tonight.

It does seem to be light, well made and rigid, so will make a nice bike regardless.

Cheers.

You would need the auction NUMBER, and then it's only good for 90 days, if I'm not mistaken.
Using the "watch this item" feature will also keep these handy for 90 days.

On the eBay search page, click on "Advanced Search," enter your search terms, and then check the "Completed Listings Only" box. I believe you can only search titles that way, not descriptions, so you sometimes have to get creative with search terms.

If it helps with an identification, the numbers under the bottom bracket are:

K11115

and

MP146115.

Any info would be much appreciated. I'll try and take a pic of the seat cluster for Jet Sanchez.

Cheers.
