Calling all Batavus experts
#26
I still have a bike w/ the same specs you call out. It's been hanging in my garage for the last 8 years. I used it extensively in triathlons all over the world from about 1986 - 2001. I didn't upgrade it at all from its original configuration except for adding tri bars. Now that I'm geting back into doing tri's. I'm looking at new bkies, but I'd really like to get my Batavus back into riding condition - just not sure it's worth the money to recondition an old bike. I'm not great on the bike, but me and my Batavus went a lot of places, and I never, ever saw anyone else ride one.

Batavus Competition
This is my first post and I would just like to inquire about the value of a Batavus Competition. I bought this bike about the time Batavus quit selling their bikes in the US. I believe around the early to mid 80s.
It is in excellent shape with original Campy components. Absolutly no rust or scratches. It still has the original seat. No part on this bike has been changed out except the tires and brake pads.
Thanks for your input.

I believe it was equipped with Triomphe. Mine came to me with mixed parts, and Campy 980 derailleurs, which I think may have been original, because I recently saw a Competition frame nearly identical to mine with 980. Maybe it's Claude's bike? I can't find the link. On mine, the main frame tubes were Reynolds 531.

It's been a long time since I pulled her down off her hook in the garage. I have those same pictures in a brochure that came with the bike(somewhere, still looking). I guess my memory is not as good as it used to be. Below is a better description.
Reynolds 531c frame
Campy G.S. crankset
Campy derailleurs and shifters
Campy low flange hubs
Mavic Rims
Weinmann side pulls
Belleri handle bar stem
Tange headset
SAKE "Road Champion" handle bars
Mallard pedals
Christophe clips
Laprade seat post
Color- Red with yellow letters
and like I said she has been well cared for... no rust, pits or scratches. I will try to get some pictures on later.
