Passed up an old Peugot
Did I do a bad thing.
Recently I was helping the mom in law clean out her garage - she wanted to get rid of all of her (deceased) husbands stuff prior to her moving.
Well, he had bought new a Peugot sometime in the 80's. I didn't really even look at the bike and just gave it to a friend. The bike was in perfect condition, but I don't recall anything about it, other then it was white. She said he had paid alot of money for it back then, but didn't say much more.
I don't know why, but I didn't bother checking out the components or anything, probably becuase I was working at 100 miles an hour.
Anyway, it looks like these are fairly collectable or sought after. Is that true?

Bikes: have about 30 bikes right now
Man I sure wish I was your friend. There is a pretty stonge following for vintage peugeots. If you check ebay you will see even the low end stuff goes for about 100$. I have had a couple and even the cheap ones ride nice. I am looking for a decent frame to build up with a batch of fairley nice parts that I have saved up.

These can be great bikes! I found an '84 PVS-10 a few years ago at a local auto shop of all places. Still had the original tubulars on it! A few scratches from storage but in great shape and a deal at $50! This one is Anthracite w/ the Orange chevrons. After years of feet/ Mtn biking, this is the bike that brought me back to road bikes...
You may have a very lucky friend!

I have three. The nicer ones came at least in "HLE" tubing or better, and had forged dropouts. One of mine is HLE, and the other two carbolite. None of them are really bad, but my lowest has steel wheels and is pretty heavy. Not ContiVarsillegiate heavy, but not light at all. Did it have rainbow stripes in shades of
yellow/orange tones, and chromed forks/drops? If it was, you should've snagged it.
My HLE Ph-10le. I love it!! Cost me $9 at a thrift store without a clue
