Vinyl tape, in other words. Pyramid sells it in the aftermarket in white and black, if I'm not mistaken.

I could use some in electric blue myself.

Someone PM me if you have a Sturmey-Archer shifter you want to part with...ideally one of the older 60s/70s metal ones.

Kinda like this...

I know there are a couple on eBay and about, but I'd like to find one through here and not have to battle my way through auctions.

Edit: Scratch that...got an NOS one on eBay this morning...I'm set!

I could really use, if anyone has one handy, a hanger bolt for a suntour cyclone rear derailler, first generation, preferably in fairly nice condition!

My bike has no bottle-cage bolts/bosses, so the 99% of bottle cages that have a mounting plate with bolt holes don't work. I need a cage with no mounting plate, and the clips to secure it to the downtube.

TA made some nice stuff that I would love to have, that I see occasionally on ebay - but rather expensive.

Without it I'll just be sticking my water bottle in a jersey pocket, I guess.
I posted the above a month ago mostly as a musing, not really expecting any replies.

A BF member PM'ed me, and I now have a terrific used 1970s TA bottle cage that is perfect for my bike.

(I don't know if this person wants to be identified so I am respecting his/her privacy)

Very kind and generous, they even tried to refuse payment because one of the frame clips is missing.

BikeForums rocks. Thank you.

PS - anyone have one of these old TA bottle cage clips?

sekaijin:
will these work? the loose ones are off a 1978/79? bridgestone kabuki, the ones on the bottle cage i think are off a pug, w/ some weird adjustable bottle cage.

intron, many thanks for your reply. Any of those should work as long as they are made for the standard size tubing of vintage steel road bike frames (28.6mm diameter, right?)

Can I buy one off you? I'll reply to your PM.

I'm looking for a set of 1/2" spindle pedals for an old one piece crankset. This bike is a buildup as part of a non profit community bike program.

Hey dwoloz, I don't know how often you get over to Napa County but the transfer station in Napa has a reuse/recycle yard that last time i checked (last year) had lots of low end bikes in various states for very cheap. Usually nothing over $3-5. Their off Hwy 29 going south toward Vallejo.

I have a Diamondback frame for sure in that size, and maybe a really ugly GT triple triangle frameset as well. PM if interested and I'll go out to the barn with a tapemeasure.

You peekin' over my fence, top506? I too have a Diamond Back (mine has double butted Tange and is 19.5 c-to-top), and an old GT chromoly 'triple triangle' frameset measuring 22.2 c-to-top of seat tube. And I think I have a decent lookng Univega Alpina Uno frameset (which boasts triple butted Tange). But it's a little on the short side.

if anyone has an extra 165mm ISO square taper left crank arm lying around, let me know.
edit: could also use a nutted rear brake with a longer reach, say adjustable in the range of 55-60mm. would prefer a decent sidepull.
also would like a set of criterium handlebars, like cinelli 65 or 3ttt competizione.

Just a note here, the non-drive side crank arm of the 3 pin TA "Professional" set is the exact same as the one for the 5 pin TA "CycloTourist" set.

A whole bunch of clamp-on downtube shift lever bands. I don't need or want the shifters, just the mounts. No rust, but used is fine. If they're all the same make, thats even better. They *must* be able to fit standard shifters/threading -- I'm looking for a way to mount a whole bunch of levers in the collection for display/storage. Looking for 5-10 of 'em, and I'd prefer to get them from one person. So check the spare parts box...

I need a French (22.0) stem, the shorter the reach the better. Philippe is highly preferred, or a Cinelli in that size would be great too, but anything classy will do. I don't want a cheap Pivo or Atax stem, or a 22.0 SR.
