1984 Schwinn World Sport

For submission, a bike destined for perdition on the junk heap of our local recycling center. Saved in the nick of time. This is what 5 hrs. of labor cleaning and adjusting produced...

Bikes: so many

Good job! I have aladies world sport that was stolen, joy ridden and dumped in a canal. I'm fixing it up for my wife, I'll post some pictures when it's done!

I saved a mens version of that bike from a near certain stealing, joy riding and dumping a few weeks ago. It was leaning against the side of a guys porch for a couple of days unlocked. I stoped and inquired about it and purchased it for 5 dollars. I repaired the flats, repacked the headset, oiled and adjusted the derailers and sold it for 125 bucks. It was a nice bike, I rode it to work twice just for the hell of it. I probably should have kept it.

Bikes: Nishiki Nut! International, Pro, Olympic 12, Sport mixte, and others too numerous to mention.

Nothing wrong with that bike! It looks great cleaned up.

I have a mens World Sport that I'm going to fix up. I also have a ladies Sprint. One day I'll have a few more Schwinns on the road!

Bikes: have about 30 bikes right now

It's sad what some people throw away just for the need of cleaning. Sure like finding the stuff. Dont we all like the detective overhall? You know finding that one small problen that takes 10 minutes and $2 to fix but it side lined the bike for years and made is a steal at $1.

It's great that you saved that beautiful Schwinn. Nice job cleaning up that old lady. She looks great, almost like new.
But, I'm sad that someone would through that bike away instead of donating it to charity.

Great Job!

I just rode one on my first century. I love this thing for training.
I just put on a Brooks B-17 that I'm breaking in. I may put in wheels as I think the bearings are probably shot.
One guy that was working one of the planned food stops during the century was in love with it.

Bikes: 25 at last count. One day I'll make a list

Nice bike and a great save! I believe the Schwinn World and World Sport models very much under appreciated!

Bikes: Schwinn Traveler, Chimo Concourse, Next mountain bike, all crap!

Here's three bikes that were found in the garbage. All rode very well and needed nothing more than cleaning, tires or cables and/or adjustment here and there. Silly people.
Schwinn Letour, Chimo Concourse, and Bridgestone Kabuki:

That is a nice, clean World Sport. Hard to image it at the junk pile.

I bought an '84 Le Tour off CL from an outgoing college student for $25. It had original everything, and was a great way to learn how to repack the headset & BB. Now it's a comfy single speed. Feels high quality, and it's quite light. Stock bars are very narrow, though.

Yes! I now have two ladies 80's World Sports. The first was being donated at a local community cycling organization, and the second I just found last week at a thrift shop for $20. It needed parts that weren't being made anymore, but luckily, my new community cycling organization had used ones in their buckets! 3 hours and two people later, it's a great bike!
