How to wrap handlebars/brakes without full hoods?
Hello,
I need to wrap a set of bars which have mafac levers, the kind with only partial hoods on the top, like this:
I was wondering if anyone could give me tips on how to wrap around the brakes cleanly... I've only ever wrapped bars with full hoods before. I've got some cinelli cork to which I will be applying shellac.
Oh, and if someone has a tandem mafac lever like the one in the picture, I'd LOVE to take it off your hands.
Thanks,
Richard

Anyone able to give Richard a few tips? Perhaps supply that tandem Mafac lever?

Remove the brake levers but leave the clip with the threaded stud protruding in place. Tape the bars then replace the levers over the tape. There are some pictures here.
This example is not done very well and it can be done better that this, but it gives you the idea.

Couldn't see the pic. Here is how I did mine (which don't even have the half hood in place). Rather crude & needs a cleaner cut on the piece I put over the mounting clips.

Hey all, thanks!
I ended up winging it and the results were similar. I was able to cut the supplied bits of tape which go around the brakes in half and get a clean look with no bar showing. The parts right around the levers aren't staying down perfectly but I think that will change once I shellac it. Thanks a bunch again!
