I like how the flash photography really brings out the gap in the wrapping job I did on the right bar.

that weight doesn't make me feel so bad. My 1992 62 Columbus SP bike with 2005 centaur and low end ambrosio wheels weighs in at 23lbs also and my 62cm SPX bike with super record is maybe half a pound lighter. I have the itch to try out a nice 16lb carbon bike and see how much of a difference there is in climbing and acceleration.

I liked the Red/Black better. I think a Red/Grey would look good too. Otherwise just go all Black or all Red, the Tan doesn't add to it's already good looks.

The most important thing is to ride the heck out of it!

I have an ~18 lb. rush hour pro also, it flys up short hills, sometimes I accellerate going up them.
But I think the direct drive and aggressive climbing style required to get up hills on it mean as much or more than its lighter weight. On long hills it's slow going.
I'll probably go all black bar tape next time.

The earliest OS frames weren't decaled like the latter models. I have the same frame, '89 Waterford OS, same decals. I paid $300 for just the frame.

Bikes: 1954 Holdsworth 3 speed, 1969 Bob Jackson, 1988 Miyata Twelve Hundred (retired), 1989 Schwinn Paramount, 2004 Santa Cruz Blur Classic, 2012 Specialized P3, 2013 Specialized Roubaix Expert Disc

I also have the same frame. I paid $0 for it, but it is in pretty rough shape paint-wise. It might be a good thing. The OP's is the fourth 89 paramount that I've seen in that color. I think I might do something different.
I'm glad this post came up. I've been confused about the tubing. All the info I could find said the tubing was SLX, but SLX didn't come oversized. It is clear now.

Bikes: I used to have many. And I Will again.

Beautiful Waterford Paramount! Color is just magnificent. I also like the original wrap. but thats just my taste...it's beautiful even if you wrapped it in medical gauze bandages!

I similarly equipped bike just listed in my neck of the woods. 53-54cm I think. But pics are too small to see if it's a Paramount or Prologue. Asking $475.

NOTE: It's advisable to replace that Modolo stem. They are pretty, but prone to snapping due to its clamp design. Inspect for cracks underside. It's said they let go unexpectedly.

surprising to see this thread revived!
I did replace the modolo stem w/ a slightly shorter 100cm nitto pearl stem. I also switched out saddles to a lighter selle san marco. Black bar tape for now, but will switch out to some nice stitched red and black eleganza tape I got for christmas. This is from last fall up on the blue ridge parkway above asheville, n.c.

Ah, nice pic!

It was late, couldn't sleep, and didn't catch the date of the last post.

Real sweet bike. While at an intersection last week I met a guy on a beautiful black Paramount. The frame was on the large side. It to was full Dura Ace but with down tube shifters. Lp

Bikes: mid 80s Ross Centaur converted to Alfine 11 09 motobecane imortal force, 83 Ross Paragon,81 Schwinn LeTour Tourist, 91 Paramount, 93 GT converted to city bike

OS decal on Paramounts

I think this may have been the oddest time in Schwinns history.
There was the Waterford Paramount and the PDG OS Paramount (the latter being made in japan with tange tubing)
My bike is a 91 PDG OS3
Mine has the large lettering pARAMOUNT on the down tube with the PDG OS3 on the top tube.
Oversized tubing (as I understand it) was being used as that interm gap between the titanium and CF bikes to come. It supposedly afforded a rigid BB while still giving that great steel ride.
BTW that is a beautifull bike you've got..Not a bad price!
