More Nishiki madness.......

This all started when I ran over my Raleigh Criterium.
I pulled the wheels off of my Continental to get the Criterium back on the road for the time being.
Upon further inspection of the Nishiki I discovered the worn chain, chainrings, BB and rear derailleur cogs.
So I decided a rebuild is in order.
Now I have this.

The only thing I am keeping is the Nitto Grand Raundoneur bars and the SR Laprade seat post.
Then I found this Nishiki International. It seems complete except for the wheels. I was planning on stripping it for the parts.

After looking at the International I have realized it is a low mile bike, although cosmetically poor.
All it really needs is a set of wheels and I could ride it.
Maybe I should repaint the Iternational? I still need a parts group for the Continental.
Do I need another bike? My wife may kill me............
Does anyone know what is broken/missing in this pic?

Is this the adjustment wheel for the rear derailleur?
And lastly, does anyone know what type of downtube shifters are supposed to fit on the square fitting on the Continental frame? Suntour of some sort? It is a single square boss mounted in the middle of the tube.

That is the barrel adjuster for the rear derailleur and it appears to have given up the ghost. But I'm not sure about those shifter bosses. I do know that I want those bikes, although the Continental is far too big for me.

I think the barrel adjuster has just been unscrewed, you should be able to screw it back in. The continental is better, looks like a 24" or 25", want to sell it? The continental is full chromoly while the International has hi-tensile stays. I have the EXACT same international in 25" but I stripped the paint off the fork and left if chrome and powder coated the frame green.

The bikes look quite different in size. you should decide which one fits better and keep it.

Edit, the more I look at the continental the more I want it. Please tell me it's a 62cm (25") frame and you want to sell it to me.

Truth be told this 62cm frame is a bit big for me, but because of my 33 inseam it fits fairly well.
Do you still have the Marinoni framset?
If you could scrounge up a complete Raleigh Criterium (like the one I crushed under my Land Cruiser)......
I may contemplate some kind of trade.

The marinoni frameset is gone. And I doubt I could scrounge a criterium. I'd only be able to purchase it from you or trade for parts.

Bikes: It's the motor, not the bike, right?

I lust your Continental.

The shifter boss looks like the one on my Miyata, which is Shimano 105 (Golden Arrow) top mount levers. There is a fitting that mounts onto the boss, then the shifters mount to that.

I thought the Golden arrow shift levers fixed to bosses on each side on the downtube?
My Continental has only a single square boss in the center of the downtube.

Golden arrow came in both mounting options. Many suntour shifters are top mount also... suntour symmetric for example. If you were to sell me the bike I would put a clamp on cable stop and run barcons.

You were right about the rear adjuster. It just screwed right back in.
I stripped the International and will repaint or powdercoat. I may try to spray it myself but since a powdercoating shop opened a short distance away I may try them.
I have some NOS Araya 700C rims that I need some hubs for so I have another project on the go.

The International has now been reduced to this.

Now I need to decide on whether I want to sand it and paint it or get it media blasted and powdercoated.
I would like to paint the head tube tu-tone again and get some decals made, if that's possible.
The fork is chrome so I think some Circa would strip the paint off and that would look good with a black powdercoat.
