How much is it worth?

I would really like to know. The frame is made of Columbus tubing (doesn’t feel light like SL). Circa 1985? The hubs, seatpost, headset are campy, the shifters, cranks, derailleurs are Shimano 600, rims are Weinman, and brake levers and callipers are Royal Gran Compe... I want to know how much this bike is worth. The frame was made in Pistoia Italy and seems pretty rare. The serial number under BB is 50.

It definitely needs a complete overhaul and some touching up. It could be a nice project, but I'm wondering if it's really worth it. My co-worker wants to sell it to me. He doesn't remember exactly which shop he purchased the frameset from, but he got it from a "high end" bike shop in Chicago in 1987. He could probably get more for parts now as he added the parts as he went along. By the time the bike was complete, he outgrew it!

What of the frame? Has anyone ever heard of a Coste?

50 is probably the size CTC, probably worth more apart than whole.

Seems pretty decent, why can't we see the whole Columbus tubing decal? Does it say Aelle or TreTubi or what? I've never seen this make before, but should be a good rider even if it's not the absolute top tier. Worth it? Depends on what he's asking and your location...if it fits I'd definitely bargain for it, try for $300.

There may not be one other than "50", but I agree the "50" probably IS the size. If there's a plastic cable guide under the BB shell, it *could* be under that, or on one of the dropouts, or on the seatlug...nothing on any of those sites? Maybe on the steerer (but you have to take the fork out to check there). Some of these small builders never used a numbering system. I think it's earlier than '85, since it's spaced for a 5-spd. rear. The 600 stuff ain't really a downgrade, and the RGC brakes are probably nicer than what it *may* have come with. I assume the hubs are Campy Gran Sports (no oil hole clip), and with the Weinmann rims these are the "weak spot" in this bike's gruppo. Not THAT weak, but if you need to talk the seller down over something, use this. And if it's built with something "less" than Columbus SL, more ammo...drive a hard bargain and good luck!!
