Ever Heard of a "Pilot" Bicycle?
I picked this bike up at a yard sale. I'd like to find out more information about the brand. It just says "Pilot" on it. It's a little too small for me but it was fun to ride around. Anyone heard of it before. Thanks in advance.

That frame looks kinda like my Derby, like my Derby its prob a frame that was built by some company and sold to just about anyone that wanted to put their name on it I might be wrong, but it happened a lot back in those days not that it takes away from the bike, I love my Derby and your bike looks very cool Oops! Never mind, my Derby has two top tubes and one bottom tube, the reverse of yours =(

I have one, too!
And my name is also Dave!
Hello,
I'm glad to finally find that I'm not the only one with a Pilot bike! The one I have (keeping it for a good friend) is a light blue girl's bike (step-thru frame) with white grips, seat, and trim/accent paint, without the front basket that yours has but with a rear fender platform (not sure what they're called, but we used to haul other kids around on them). Anyway, this one was bought new in the mid 1960s, from what everyone remembers, and the original owner still owns it. It's in good shape, just needs rust removed and new tires and tubes. I don't have a picture of it at the moment, but if anyone wants, I'll snap a few and post them. I've been wanting to find some info on this for a long time. Seems to me, and I will be corrected if I'm wrong, that it was bought at a Western Auto or some place like that.
That's about all I know for now, until I get with the friend and jog her memory again.

This reminds me of the days when my LBS sold full decal sets (down tupe, seat tube, head tube crest and seat stays) for bikes, with names of non-existant bicyclce brands that sounds cool. My brother replaced the badly peeling decals on his Motobecane to ones that read "Mont Blanc". It sure attracted a lot of attention at bike races. I don't think you can get those anymore. :^(
So, with bicycles what you see isn't always exactly what you think you've got.
