1970 "Tomos" bicycle

Hello,
I bought a great vintage bicycle at Goodwill yesterday, I just can't seem to find any information about it. The logo says "tomos" written into a bicycle picture, pretty cool. Under the seat it says Made in Yugoslavia and on the rear axle it is dated at 1970.

All I can find out is that Tomos makes mopeds and has for quite some time.

If anyone has any information about this, perhaps a value, that'd be great!

Thanks so much!
Mary

Bikes: Nishiki Nut! International, Pro, Olympic 12, Sport mixte, and others too numerous to mention.

Photos? What components?

Bikes: Still have a few left!

A quick way to asses your frame is checking the rear dropouts. If they are forged & have axle adjusting screws it is likely a mid-level or better frame set. Looks like this:

You're not kidding - those are the antithesis of forged dropouts.

but a very nice bike in its own right - which used to have 3 speeds I presume ...
Now, as for value, only sort of a novelty-value I suppose (how many people own a bike from the Adriatric, right?). Nice logo, indeed.

Bikes: 1972 Columbia Tourist Expert III, Columbia Roadster

Tomos made some mopeds that were very nice in theory. Generally the quality of materials let them down.
B u t . . . it certainly doesn't look any worse than most typical light roadster bicycles, and it has the bonus of being from an unusual maker. it's hard to say what'd be worth. but probably somewhere north of $50 and south of $100, unless you go by the "craigslist value" then you could probably add another $20 to $50 to that higher figure.

So, forgive my ignorance, but how can you tell that it used to have 3 speeds?

Thanks, Mary

Thanks, Mary
The rear hub is oversized (the different gearing is inside the hub), and you likely will find that the spindle of it on the chain side has part of the shifting linkage still there.

Sounds a little high to me. But maybe the yard sales around here are cheap.
