(If you think of how many were made in a certain size and color, then the count gets even smaller -- then you think of something like the use of lugs like the bike on eBay and then you probably get to single digits ...)

Given that I've only seen 3 Paramount Tourist of any vintage at auction over the past couple of years, I'd be surprised if they made up half of the production. I would guess the percentage to be much lower. No question that these are truely rare bikes.

Of course, I only paid $40 for it, so that's not such a big deal. And as I mentioned recently to Bob, it has the Paramount crankset.

All right, Picchio, no more whinin' outta you! Get down in that basement with some brass wool, mild soap, a bucket of warm water, and a pile of clean, soft cotton rags, and don't come back up until that bike is shining and your pics are ready to post!

Sheesh.

Well whatever it is, I like it.
If it is a modification, it's a vintage one, and pretty dang cool.

Correction - don't come back up until you decide to sell it to me, and provided it is my size.

Kurt

P.S.: And that said, I'm glad to see that the bike's origins have indeed been determined. I realized the lugs were familiar, but for the life of me was coming up blank trying to think of a Paramount model that used the standard stamped Schwinn drops. The chainguard mount should have been a dead giveaway.

That's the way I feel about it. It may be a mutt, but I like mutts. All of my bikes are mutts.
