It helps to have a well trained eye, I can spot a good bike from 40 paces through dirt and other debris,
but yeah, sometimes I get lucky...:thumb:

lol Well, when I see a bike, I can't saw no, and I see alot, but next year it's changing slightly, my parts shed is being cleared and only vintage and antique parts will stay, and a few others, I need more room for them, plus the place where I live wants that shed torn down, when that happens I'm nolonger gonna help them fix things and they could pay alot for things to be repaired, But I have taken a likeing to older bikes, so given the amount of parts I'll have, restoring them next to original wont be issue.

Well most are gone already but a few Perfomance built road bikes and to hybird/Mtbs some high end Giants and Treks a couple of road bikes that I never heard of but I have seen a few on here (I am just getting to know some of the road bike as I am not as familar with them).Had some really nice Dealer only Diamondbacks and a few Specialized MTB's a Hutch bmx(sold fast) and some Haros both good bmx and two cruiser/mtb and a bunch of Jamis MTB's and beach cruisers.

I understand what is high end to me might not be to others but to me it is any bike that cost $800 and up and doesn't come from a box store.I was looking for my photos I used to list them on CL but I deleted them all but a Performance hybird that I was building for myself but I got a offer I couldn't pass up and I had to let it go.

Glenn, take some shots of the Bianchi Pista that you found, that could be worth a mint on eBay. Regardless of how bad the paint is, there has been a real trend as of late for track/pista bikes and Bianchis (or anything old and Italian) go for big bucks.

I also had a few Bmx Motocrosses, in the past, This one of mine you showed I let my dad restore, it looks nice now, he says it brings back memorys.

Sixty Fiver 11-16-08 08:25 PM

I am pretty sure that if I had not pulled her out of the pile o' bikes she would have been sent to the scrap yard when we do our fall clean up at the shop (I won't be there)... her wheels were fragged and who on earth would want an old CCM with a banana seat except the guy who had one when he was a kid ?

Sorry... no pond shots today.

I wish I could find a Old cruiser like my new one but with a tank and very old, I always get womens frames, never any guys, anyone canadian and wanna part with one? lol I'm in ottawa, i'm really wanting a ald balloon tire ride, These are all nice but nothing I'm really looking for.

Sixty Fiver 11-16-08 08:55 PM

HSean...You can have dibs on the second one I find.

:D

Balloon tyre bikes don't seem to have been as popular here as roadsters which were a more practical and utilitarian bike and our bike tastes of old seem to reflect those of the English rather than Americans.

Glennfordx4 11-16-08 09:01 PM

I had to run out for a bit (and it's finally cold out brrrr) and look what I picked up four complete bikes and a Fuji cruiser frame,I had to get the camera and get a few shots and I wanted to show a few pics of the bike that lead me here a Schwinn World Sport 27" frame 36" stand over hight got it for $5 at a yard sale earlier in the fall,it needs a total make over but I have everything but a set of bars (that I would put on this)

Thanks Sixty fiver, I really hate that people do this to bicycles, I should put a notice out to everyone here where I live, if they do this to their bikes I will slap them lol, also, That SuperB was 100! original, I did alot to get it cleaned, then I sold it because I was forced to, I really hope it got a good home, I so want him back though, I have ads posted trying to locate it or one like it.

Sixty Fiver 11-16-08 09:32 PM

HSeam... this is / was my nearly mint and all original 1978 Superbe.

I sold it to a friend this spring and he taking excellent care of the bike and rides it every day which was something I could not do as my back and hip were in pretty bad shape.

The only reason I could ever part with such a gorgeous bike is because I found another vintage 3 speed that was not destined for the dumpster but rather...was going to end up as a lawn ornament.

You can see I kept my B66 saddle for the Rudge (a 1948) which I can ride for longer distances than the Superbe.

I'd prefet the superB with rod breaks lol, I use a 3 speed Raleigh sport to go to work, 40K, does well, heres more bikes Saved from dump.

These bikes all where found not to long from eachother, and this is my part of town, the other parts are far worse, they throw like 5 times more out but it's to far for me to bike to, would take to long, It really angers me,

mastronaut 11-16-08 09:57 PM

I really like the banana seat CCM!

Sixty Fiver 11-16-08 10:10 PM

"I'd prefer the superbe with rod brakes lol, I use a 3 speed Raleigh sport to go to work, 40K, does well, heres more bikes Saved from dump."

The Superbe is a Rudge Roadster which is equivalent and nearly identical to a Raleigh DL1... it's a waaaaaaaay different ride.

mastronaut - That little Mustang is a friggin' blast from my past and as fun to ride now as when I was 7.

I have a rod-brake DL-1 I ride to work too. It's not my regular ride, but maybe once every week or two I'll run it to work just for the fun of it.

Sanity check: I live in Los Angeles. Is it even possible to gain access to a dump here? I've never heard of being able to do so. Or is the term "dump" being used loosely? The thrift store scene is depressing enough here. It'd be nice to find another avenue to explore.
