Another Schwinn is done!
This one is a bit less fancy than the Peloton. I built it up as a 10 Over 8 Shimergo century machine.
-1989 25" Schwinn Prelude in the "Evel Knievel/Captain America/French Tricolore" scheme.
-Obtained in a horsetrade with @wrk101.
Drivetrain: Veloce 10 speed shifters, 6400 FD, Tiagra 4600 Rd, SRAM PG850 cassette, IRD Impala-C 50/34 crankset with new FSA rings, Dura-Ace 7700 hubs laced to Mavic Open Pros. Fat Vittoria Zaffiro 28 tires as place-holders. I'm getting a bit of rub on the fork crown, so I'll be swapping them for 25's.
Bars are Scott Drop LF. Stem's a de-badged Profile Design unit. Post is the original LaPrade type. Brakes are Taiwanese Ebay two-tone specials, most likely made by Tektro. Saddle is a turbo clone, tape is Fizik, Jagwire cable kit, pedals are Crank Brothers Candy C and the cages are Deltas.
Initial impression is "classic lugged butted chromoly all-day rider with non-exotic geometry." I'll give it 50 miles to compare it with the Paramount and Pelotons after I put some better rubber on it. I haven't weighed it but I suspect it's about 23 lbs.

Fun build, @brandon98. You'd better be riding that on Memorial Day.

@icepick_trotsky It's more of a 4th of July and Bastille Day Machine. I'm not a real fan of BBQ contests and mattress sale jingoism on Memorial Day. I'll ride my green Paramount in silence to honor my fallen brothers from The Ironhorse Division. Maybe I'll pour a Shiner Bock on the curb for them at the end.

On Memorial Day, or thereabouts, I ride solo until I'm tired, sit on the back porch and smoke a cigar and count folks out loud whose last ribbon was a toe tag, if we could find the toes. Every year, I think I remember less and less, which does not suffice, so I've written them down. They would laugh at this. One year, the mother of one of my troops called to thank me once again for bringing her son home, a bit worse for the wear, but intact. She said he was in his den and wouldn't come out. Talked to him for a while, then, and we popped a top over the phone. Told him to get off his ass and cut the grass. Being able to cut the grass, and having that be the problem that day, well, we both understood that was a luxury.
No way could I ever get my head around Memorial Day if I was a WWII or Vietnam infantry vet. No freaking way.
Now, Back to the Bikes!

How's the shimergo working out? My retro roadie project that has been ready for me to put together for like almost a year now will also be shimergo, but I decided on jtek adapter so I can still use shimano 10 speed rear with veloce 10 speed brifters. Can't wait to get the build going, but just so much other stuff to do.

I use inexpensive PG850 cassettes and 8 speed chains which are both cheaper and sturdier than 10 speed chains, especially as a Clyde. I prefer the Campy Ergo shifters as well...they just fit my hand and I prefer the thumb button. With all the pain people go through to salvage tired 8 Speed STI units, I'm surprised this isn't a popular option. The last two clicks are simply dialed out with the limit screws on the RD. Otherwise, click shift click shift. No fancy cable routing games, etc.
My Diamondback Master TG is being fitted with Veloce 10s shifting 105 5600. That project should be done next week as well.

You call yourself a patriot, Mr. brandon? That bike should properly have a red tire up front and a blue tire out back. And white brake lever hoods! "Mr brandon, why do you hate America?"

As a matter of fact, red and blue striped (F/R) Serfas tires are on order. If I can find some Red 2011+ Campy hoods for a song, I might put them on. I don't do white hoods because they just look nasty by the third ride.

Waiting on brakes (Tektro 539), a clamp on double cable stop, and a bottom bracket. A new headset is also in the works. This was my first road bike. I got it for Christmas in 1986. It recently made ita way out of storage, and I realized that it was a 57 cm. Mom and Dad bought me a bike that was quite large for a 5 foot, 6 inch 13 year old, but perfect for a 6 foot 43 year old.
