@jolly_codger, Really good point! My Lemond Zurich does indeed have a carbon fork, albeit threaded.

Beautiful bike!
Where did you get the Lemond and Zurich stickers? Also, what is the rear wheel with the 3G lacing? The wheels are Campagnolo Zondas, stickers removed. I actually designed the stickers custom. The original decals and paint were fairly beat up when I bought the bike. And, being a graphic designer by trade (affliction?), I worked up new decals, going for a clean, minimal, custom-built look. These went on top of fresh powdercoat. I actually was thinking about starting a new thread, something like "Show your custom decals"... A few more looks: https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...6cb330f36f.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...5d1b44278b.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...07101d7df9.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...ee543db3fc.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...aaf03bce94.jpg Here's a webpage that provides a few more details. |
I thought they might be Zondas. I have a set, but am missing the driver, which is hard to find :(
Great website. Sent you an email. |
geluzj about the buzzy ride: that myth was debunked in the 1980s. The radial stiffness of any wheel, even the most flexible wheel, is still stiffer than any inflated tire. Therefore, wheels do not contribute to a buzzy ride. I am not speaking of stiffness in lateral deflection or acceleration, just vertical. Lower pressure or more supple tires will do the trick. And as jolly_codger says, a carbon fork can help. I haven't done a comparison. I have a titanium bike with a carbon fork but that is the only fork it has had.

Did you have a shop make/apply the labels? Did you find a place to do clear coat over them? Thanks, Mark |

I love that! I'm trying to design custom decals for a LeMond Buenas Aires from that same time period, and also for a Mercian.

Hello to everyone!
When I bought this Cadex it was on 9S Chorus, that was fully and lovely serviced. Next year I tried it with modern Ultegra 8000. Just wanted to compare my feelings from old and modern groupset. Now I decided (I think finally) that this old frame looks better with shiny components, so I'm building it with Dura-Ace 7800. The build is in process, now it is waiting for wires... https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...57361fdbb.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...54c164a5d.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...73b69247a.jpeg |

No, I am not disputing that the upgrade is great but I was not aware that the space for the wheel between the seat stays were wide enough for the larger cluster.

I believe that's Dura Ace 7800. 6800 is Ultegra 11-speed, in a dark-grey finish.
