Godefroot Pista
Here is my latest purchase. It's equipped with a Campagnolo seat post, campy hubs, campy headset, cinelli stem and bar, Rolls saddle and a Sakae crank. The guy had the campy crank set but I was going to pay 150 for it. How can date the hubs on the bike since the guy said that everything on the bike is original except for the crank and rims. I hoping that my dating the hubs I will know what year this bike is. This is my first track bike and since winter in approaching, I'll use that time to see if I like the whole fixed scene. The only thing I don't like about the bike is that horrible bar tape. I'm going to use white to match the seat. What do you guys think? Also, what is that small pad I've seen on most "fixies" on the top tube? Is it to protect the top tube from the bars? No clue here. Also, I have no idea why the hubs have a Pivo sticker on them. They are clearly Campagnolo. Any idea why that might be? The chrome on the bike is perfect. Damn! I'm almost jealous of myself. And to think that I just got another F.Moser for a 50 and debating about getting a Merckx. Yup, life is good here. Oh,and I'm in no way bragging.

from what i understand, there should be date stamps on your hub locknuts.
people put toptube pads on to protect the paint and protect the tt from barslap.
if you decide the fixie scene isn't for you and want to sell that frame and fork or whole bike, please let me know, it looks to be my size...
nice bike.

Re: the Pivo sticker - bike was ridden by a rider sponsored by Pivo?

The stickers are just to add some pizzaz (sp?) I bought a set of campagnolo track hubs on ebay with Belgian colour stickers in the same place only mine were more neatly put on and covered the campy logo better. I ended up taking them off because curiosity got the better of me wanting to actually see if they were stamped campagnolo or not.

I have no clue, but the guy I bought it from is sponsored by some Belgian bike shop and some other companies but I really didn't have time to talk to guy after driving 2 hours in the rain with the two little guys in the pic. In fact, those pics were taken right after we got home. Poor babies. So who knows, that guy might of been sponsored by Pivo at one time.

I think Campy was probably outsourcing their track hub production to Pivo and forgot to remove the stickers.

Part number 33 and 33/P are the outer locknuts on the hub assemblies, they will be stamped with a date.
Edit: That date is on the inside of the locknut meaning you must remove them to find out. Not really worth it unless you have the proper tools and are confident in your abilities to adjust the bearings.

WHAT THE %$#@! I guess me saying that I got a great deal is an understatement. Check this auction out on ebay. I just checked out of curiosity and BAM! F.Y.I: I payed 50 Euros for mine. 50! That's still only 72 bucks! And IMO, mine looks better. Hell, the shipping alone on that bike is more than what I payed for my bike. I'm sleeping good tonight. https://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Pista-Go...QQcmdZViewItem

Quit rubbing it in already, I would have considered 5 times what you paid for yours a deal that I am likely never to get. Even 10 times what you paid for your bike is still a good price. The hubs alone are worth $200 US and i that is a super record headset (looks like it is), it's worth over $100US.

With a bike like that you are now obligated to continue the Belgian legacy by quitting your job and becoming a track racer. Anything less would be highly disappointing

I also have a Godefroot Pista. Mine has similar decals, but has a flat crown fork, and lacks the seat stay panto. I have Clover cut-outs in the lugs instead. If it helps, the Reynolds 531 decals on mine indicate 1980's. I'm guessing yours is similar.
