Bikes: See my sig...

I was up a good part of the night working on my daughter's new ride and was up early so that I could get the bike finished.

Last night before bed she said, "dad... I am the only one without an English 3 speed...but they probably don;t make one in my size "

Once again...the before.

My friend powder coated the frame and fork for me... it looks like blue glass.

I also had to build a trailer to bring it home...

And without any further rambling...my daughter's "new" 1972 Raleigh 3 speed.

I think I did good.

Looks rather like a Raleigh Fireball. I had one back in around 1968.

Zorro - I think you are right on the mark with this...the frame and chain guard is identical to the one shown in the advert.

The girls and I just got in from a ride and now we all have English three speeds... between us we were riding a Raleigh Twenty, a Raleigh Saffron, and the "new" Fireball.

My 8 year old is a little fireball too and just loves her new bike.

Extremely cool little bike. Wondered what rear cog was used with a 24" wheel?

Raleigh seems to have fitted their 20 inch bikes with 15 tooth cogs and this makes for some tall gearing...

The Fireball has 20 inch wheels with some fat slicks and I swapped in a 19 tooth cog to go with the 44 tooth chain ring while my other daughter's 20 inch Saffron has a 46:20 so that the girls have a useable gear range and makes 2nd (the most efficient gear on an SA hub) very comfortable.

I put an 18 into the new Twenty which gives it a nice gear range and was low enough to make towing the trailer and the bike fairly easy despite having to deal with some fierce headwinds yesterday...

Very nice!

Thanks - and for the record, here's the "BEFORE" on the '70 Paramount. I'm coming up on the complete "AFTER" faster then I thought thanks to a few things sent to me by the Pastor of Schwinns himself

I'll post the "AFTER" as soon as I get the new tires and MKS pedals on it. Decals will have to be later, I suppose.

I'm just guessing, but have you tried scrolling sideways to the faaaaar right? There seems to be a huge picture that is pushing everything over.

When you push "print screen" the image goes to your clip board, open your image editor of choice and hit ctrl+v
